Bahrain's fishermen will benefit from vastly improved facilities when three new harbours are constructed in Muharraq, Sitra and Budaiya.
Work on the BD5 million ($13.26 million) project will begin in the first half of next year and take about 18 months to complete, said Housing and Agriculture Ministry Special Projects Department senior quantity surveyor Colin Cunningham.
"Twelve locations have been identified for upgrades but for the time being our efforts are being concentrated on two of the largest, Muharraq and Sitra, and one of the smallest, Budaiya," Cunningham said.
The consultants appointed for the project are Gredeco Ansari Consultants for agriculture and engineering and Davis Langdon Arabian Gulf for quantity surveying.
