Ingersoll-Rand (IR) Portable Power has extended its Platinum range of portable compressors with the new 7/51 model which completes the series.

Replacing the P180 compressor, the 7/51 introduces a new external package design and produces a free air delivery of 5.0 cu m/min at a rated operating pressure of 7.0 bar.

Elaborating on the latest addition, a spokesman for the UK-based firm says: "Equipped with three air power outlets, the 7/51 portable is designed to power pneumatic tools and can be coupled with the comprehensive range of new paving breakers from Ingersoll-Rand. The combination of the compressor and the breakers is part of the new 'Total Solution' offered by IR Portable Power. Options include a tool storage box, capable of holding the largest paving breaker and a lubricator, engineered to ensure the smooth running of the tool."

He continues: ''The new 7/51 allows IR to offer Platinum benefits across all of its six portable models from 2.0 to 7.1 cu m/min. These benefits include the first manufacturer's warranty to cover every component of the compressor. The key to this has been the development of the Ingersoll-Rand range of high performance water-cooled diesel engines, specifically designed for use in the six-model range. The new compressor is powered by the 41RJ7N four-cylinder diesel engine providing 46.0 kW of power at a full load speed of 2,400 rpm.

"Like all Platinum Series compressors, the 7/51 is also protected by a special five-year or 10,000-hour airend warranty. To qualify for the extended warranty, the customer has to ensure that the compressors are serviced properly and at the correct service intervals. In addition, only genuine Ingersoll-Rand parts must be used during the warranty period.''

Ingersoll-Rand has also rationalised maintenance procedures on the 7/51 compressor, aligning service intervals for different compressor components and replacing them with a single, comprehensive service at 250 hours, reducing associated costs for the customer and increasing utilisation in the rental industry, the spokesman says.

Other key technical features include the environmental protection provided by a new drip-proof base which prevents the spillage of fluids. The compressor also has an in-line primary fuel/water separator and secondary fuel filter that offers enhanced reliability and less downtime.

The 7/51 compressor offers as standard, an automatic safety shutdown system for conditions such as high engine coolant temperature, high airend discharge temperature and low engine oil pressure.
