The Safeer Group is building two malls in Sharjah at a total cost of Dh300 million ($81.6 million).

Both projects - the Safeer Market and the Century Mall - have been designed by Brewer Smith Brewer Gulf and built by System Construct, the Sharjah-based group said.

Safeer Market will have a built-up area of 1 million sq ft. It will be located on the Dubai-Sharjah highway. It will be connected to the Discount Market, which it abuts, to allow easy access.

The project will have six levels - two basement floors for parking which will accommodate 800 vehicles, four floors for shopping outlets and the top floor for a food court.

An amusement centre will occupy one floor and a home furnishing store (displaying Safeer furniture) will occupy the other. Work on this project started in July and is expected to be completed by August next year.

Century Mall, which faces Al Shabab Club in Al Mamzar area, will cost Dh100 million ($27 million) and have two levels. Work on the 300,000-sq-ft project started in July and is expected to be completed by December. The steel structure has been put in place and work is due to begin on the pre-ast walls.

A 20,000 sq-ft Kids Zone and the ground and mezzanine floors will be connected by two sets of travelators. The mall will have food court with a seating capacity of 200 and a parking lot that can take 600 cars.

Safeer is also building a new hypermarket - the Safeer Hypermarket - in Dhaid, Sharjah. This will cover 50,000 sq ft of retail space.
