Ajman Korea Furniture supplied and installed doors, frames and kitchen cabinets for the 271 villas at Al Warkaa, Dubai.
The company started work on its Dh4 million ($1.08 million) contract in July 2000 and completed it in October 2001, says CT Thomas, commercial manager of the Ajman-based firm.
Ajman Korea Furniture is one of the biggest joinery and furniture companies in the UAE. Its primary role is that of a sub-contractor, supplying and installing kitchen cabinets, wardrobes and bedroom fit-outs for building projects.
Established in 1976, Ajman Korea Furniture is a Korean family business started and owned by CH Char who is also the chairman of the company.
Around 90 per cent of the products - all custom-designed - are supplied to construction sites in the UAE. All its products and finishes are of international standards, says Thomas, who points out that American hardwood is used for manufacturing most of the products.
Ajman Korea Furniture's factory is well equipped with about 200 hi-tech machines for wood-working, including a CNC machine, Schelling machine, membranes' press, edge banding and painting machines, according to Thomas.
Ajman Korea Furniture, which has more than two decades of experience in the market, has an annual turnover of around Dh50 million.
The company has gained a reputation for the major projects it has handled which include prestigious ones in the UAE such as the Jebel Ali Hotel, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Oasis Beach Hotel (all in Dubai); Sharjah Intercontinental (Sharjah) and Ajman Kempinski (Ajman).
The company is currently engaged in providing the joinery works and furniture for the Grand Hyatt Hotel project in Dubai for a value of Dh38.35 million.
