
Bahrain hotel to get facelift
Manama: The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel in Bahrain will soon begin a BD1 million ($2.65 million) refurbishment programme that will upgrade the entire five-star property.
The two-year renovation plan will include the complete remodelling of all 246 guest rooms, the hotel's seven food and beverage outlets, the health club, gymnasium, other sports facilities and the hotel lobby. The project, which also includes the addition of an Iranian restaurant, will be divided into several phases, with work scheduled to begin this spring.
Eight prequalify for Subiya
Kuwait City: Kuwait has prequalified eight international consultants and architectural firms to carry out a feasibility and design study for the multi-million-dollar Subiya causeway project, according to news reports. The causeway is estimated to cost $650 million and will be 22 km long spanning across Kuwait Bay to link the proposed Subiya City to the capital.
Resort to invite tenders
Abu Dhabi: A second package of contracts for the Dh330 million ($89.85 million) Al Raha Hotel and Beach Resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE, will be put to tender shortly. The tenders will be for a 38,000 sq m shopping mall and could also include a five-star hotel over a similar area, said a report in the Gulf News. The hotel will have 90 guest rooms, six diplomatic suites and five royal suites, and is expected to be completed in 18 months once the contract is awarded.
In December, the first tender package was awarded to Abu Dhabi's Al Jaber Contracting for the construction of 28 two-, three- and four-bedroom chalets. Two of the royal chalets will be built on artificial islands.
The Al Raha project is being promoted by Abu Dhabi's Works Department. Dubai-based Technical Studies Bureau (Test) is the primary consultant.
Budget okayed for roads, bridges
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi authorities have approved the budget for two bridges and roads linking Mina Zayed with the Eastern Ring Road. The link road is to ease traffic on the main roads in the centre of the capital. The port proposed construction of the bridge between Mina Zayed via Saadiyat Island and the Eastern Ring Road to ease heavy truck traffic in the city.
New tourist resort for Fujairah
Fujairah: The Fujairah Tourism Bureau has signed a contract with German firm TUT to build a tourist resort in Fujairah, UAE, at a cost of Dh300 million ($81.68 million). The resort will house three four-star hotels and will be constructed in phases. The first stage will see the building of a 500-room hotel covering an area of 200,000 sq m.
