Riyadh-based Masa Establishment for Pest Extermination Services has been awarded ISO 9002 certification by the SGS International Certification Services of the UK in recognition for its services in the general pest control, fumigation, termite prevention, control and termite-proofing sector.

''As a leader in professional pest control, Masa has set industry standards for more than 20 years with a long history of meeting and exceeding the most stringent measures of performance,'' says owner and general manager Mousaied Shieshakly. ''Masa has become the first-ever pest control company in the Middle East to obtain total accreditation from United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) through SGS, covering all aspects of pest control services,''

Shieshakly received the formal ISO 9002 certification from SGS Yasrley International Certification Services (UK) through its Dammam RLA and team leader Dr S A Mansoor.

"The certification proves that our services comply with ISO 9002 and it will enable us to maintain and improve the quality of our services. I am proud of being the owner of a company which provides high-quality services essential to the community," he says. "This achievement is the result of the conscientious and sustained efforts of all our employees and I believe that this quality initiative will prepare us to meet the challenges of the future. I also believe we received the certification so quickly because Masa continuously strives to maintain the highest standards in services, and to exceed our customers' expectations. It is further proof that Masa intends to remain a leader in the pest control industry in the Kingdom.''

According to Shieshakly, Masa's quality policy can be summarised as follows:

  • To establish and maintain an effective and efficient quality assurance programme aimed at ensuring strategic quality management and improving performance in terms of quality, productivity and cost;

  • To increase quality awareness and motivation among employees to deliver consistent quality services;

  • To provide services which fully meet customers' requirements and satisfaction; and

  • To develop, implement and maintain an appropriate and strict quality assurance system to monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of its services.

    ''To meet these objectives, the management is committed to organising and maintaining its management system - based on ISO 9002:1994 - in a manner that all activities, materials, methods, personnel that affect or influence the quality of services are under constant vigilance and control,'' he says.

    Masa started out in 1980 as a small pest control company in Riyadh and has grown gradually to becoming the largest private pest control operator encompassing 11 branches all over the Kingdom, he adds.

    Its network of branches provides general pest control, fumigation, termite control and a range of tailor-made service packages for targeted customer segments, including specialised services for airports, hospitals and the food sector as well as key accounts in business and industry.

    ''Masa does not measure its success simply in financial terms, but equally in how much it fulfils its responsibilities to its employees, customers and society at large,'' Shieshakly concludes.
