
Qatar to build hi-tech recycling plant
A 20,000-sq-m recycling plant will be constructed in Mesaieed Industrial City, Qatar, at a cost of QR116.8 million ($32 million).
The Modern Recycling Plant (MRP), designed to recycle used tyres and rubber materials, is expected to contribute to the production of environment-friendly value added products for commercial and industrial use.
Al Khaliji Commercial Bank will finance this project – one of the largest in the country – as part of its Generation Green programme.
Welding school uses Kemper tools
KEMPER, a German equipment manufacturer, is supplying equipment to one of the biggest welding schools in the region in Muscat, Oman.
The company is furnishing 100 welding workstations with its extraction and filter technology and welding booths, with installation of the equipment to begin this month. The equipment to be installed include four central machines for regulated extraction, with Kemper furnishing all of the workstations with welding booths, complete with special noise protection walls. Each booth is 2 m by 2 m in size and has its own exhaust arm.
Schneider Electric scores green points
SCHNEIDER Electric has become the first company in Saudi Arabia to be awarded a key certification for the efficient use of energy.
The company has been awarded the ISO 50001:2011 certification with accreditation that confirmed the conformity of its processes to the energy management system (EnMS). ISO 50001:2011 supports organisations in all sectors to use energy more efficiently through the development of EnMS. The accreditation can be obtained by companies keen on integrating energy management into business practices.
The firm identified its operation services at Schneider Electric EPS’s main office in the second industrial area of Riyadh as the largest consumer of electrical energy and opted to get the site certified by end of 2013. Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare power monitoring software played an important role in achieving the certification.
Naseej signs 32-villa deal
NASEEJ has signed an agreement with Mohamed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau (MSCEB) for design and construction supervision services for one of its flagship projects in Saar, Bahrain.
The recently launched project, Yasmeenat Saar, comprises 32 villas on an overall plot size of 17,000 sq m.
The masterplan features homes on individual plot sizes starting from 300 sq m and with built-up areas ranging from 350 to 480 sq m.
The contract was awarded following a competitive tendering process.
KTI to supply Kuwait causeway
DMI Engineering and Manufacturing Company of Korea has chosen KTI as a partner for supplying cooling equipment for the 36-km Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Causeway in Kuwait.
DMI chose KTI concrete cooling equipment for its modular design which is easy to erect even on barges. KTI will supply three cooling systems to produce about 180 tonnes of ice along with suitable chiller and storage systems.
Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company, the main contractor, had awarded the contract to supply the complete concreting equipment to DMI Engineering and Manufacturing Company of Korea. Two systems will be operational on the barge and two on land to supply concrete for the complete project. The total volume to be supplied is more than one million cu m of high-grade concrete.
Dupont launches design award
DuPont Corian has launched an international design award titled, “Shape The Future Of Black”, across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The award is open to professionals and students in the fields of architecture, furnishing, interior design, industrial design, general design, decorative arts, engineering and related areas. Participants are invited to conceive an interior design solution where the DuPont Corian range plays a fundamental role. Participants must use one or more colours from the black tones of DuPont Corian made with the new DeepColour technology (Deep Nocturne, Deep Night Sky, Deep Black Quartz, Deep Anthracite).
Registrations are now open and entries will be accepted until June 15, 2014.
$651m Bahrain projects on way
TENDERS worth $651 million to build housing units in Hidd and Northern City, two 400 kW main power transmission stations and education infrastructure projects are expected to be awarded shortly in Bahrain.
HRH the Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa said the launch of development and service projects aims to meet present and future needs through investments in the GCC Development Programme.
In addition, the education sector will receive a boost in coming months with a number of projects at public schools throughout the kingdom.
