The GOS-SL sliding system ... features corrosion-proof components.

Italy-based Giesse, a manufacturer of innovative manual and automatic opening and closing systems for windows, is coming to The Big 5 Saudi with new products targeted at the regional market.

Constantly involved in supporting window makers in upgrading the quality and performance of their products as well as architects/consultants in shaping the safest architectural solutions, Giesse’s main goal remains to identify and respond to the new trends and requirements of the Gulf markets, says a company spokesman.

“This commitment has led Giesse to develop new technology for the creation of sliding windows and doors, offering high performance in terms of noise reduction and protection from atmospheric elements, at a highly competitive price in comparison to similar systems available around the world,” he says.

One such system is the new GOS-SL, which is the first to offer all the quality of a GOS (Giesse Open System) at the best possible quality/price ratio. The company has used specific hardware to build the innovative system including corrosion-proof materials such as technopolymers, 304 stainless steel, and polyamide connecting rods. It also has special seals.

“The GOS-SL has been designed to meet all specific international quality requirements regarding residential apartment block construction. Its technology is perfect for balcony doors and high-end windows, and has already been adopted by leading companies in the sector,” the spokesman says.

Other features include a sliding system in profile with and without thermal break; lift and slide functioning; a 90-degree frame; and 45-degree cut sash in relation to the outer corners (cut at 90 degree with regard to the central upright); and a 34/31 mm sash width – with the sash weight being 35 per cent less than that of the GOS-S. It comes with a maximum aluminium thickness of 1.5 mm and allows the use of glass up to 22-mm thick (insulated glass).

In terms of performance, GOS-SL offers effective waterproofing for doors and windows, with a water penetration rating of 600 Pa (passes test at 750 Pa); wind resistance for a 2,400-mm-high by 2,400-mm-long window of up to 1,800 Pa (1/175); and noise reduction of 36 dB (acoustic glass). The capacity per sash is a 60 kg window and 120 kg door.

GOS-SL comes in various models including one fixed and one sliding sash; two sliding sashes; two fixed side and two central sliding sashes; three sliding sashes; and with a mosquito screen.

Commenting on the company’s performance in the local market, the spokesman says: “With six years of direct and committed presence in the Saudi market and a 30 per cent average turnover growth annually, Giesse will this year consolidate its leadership position in the market as a top quality manufacturer for aluminium windows and doors.”

From a small workshop making hardware for aluminium windows, Giesse has over the past four decades become an established international holding company and a leader in its sector, with a turnover of more than €100 million ($133 million). It is seeing continuous growth, and has a catalogue of more than 8,000 products and more than 100 registered patents.

The rate of growth of the group reached extraordinary levels during the 90s, which saw acquisitions, strategies and expansion of the sector, until GSG International was established in 2000. This company now produces all the brands of the group.

GSG is represented in all the main countries of the world with sites in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Russia, France, North America, Brazil, China, Argentine, Dubai, Brazil and India in addition to having a large world network of official distributors.

The company will be present in Hall Two, Stand 2F38.
