NATIONAL Projects and Con-struction is also engaged on the Dh1.6 billion ($436 million) National Towers coming up on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche.
The project, being implemented in joint venture with Arabtec, is a twin-tower residential and commercial development that also includes a hotel.
The Arabtec-NPC JV was awarded the contract in May this year and is scheduled to complete it in the last quarter of 2011.
The development includes two buildings comprising a 64-storey residential tower, a 50-storey hotel and office tower and a retail podium. The site, which straddles the corniche seafront, features an underground tunnel linking the towers to a beach club.
The project is divided into South and North blocks. The South block comprising two towers and a podium, is located on a 55,129 sq m plot and has a built-up area of 287,743 sq m.
The North block, located on a 30,904 sq m plot inclusive of reclamation and landscaped areas, will house two basement levels, ground plus four-storey beach club and associated car-park.
Currently, the project is at the substructure stage for the South block. The two towers will sit on a raft foundation with pile caps for the podium. The superstructure will comprise post-tensioned slabs with hollowcore and solid slab used for the podium.
NPC is currently working on a project portfolio worth Dh4.5 billion ($1.22 billion), having won major construction contracts from prestigious property developers like Hydra Properties, Tamouh, Sourouh, Al Qudra, Reem Investments, Royal Group and International Capital Trading.
It has also been retained by Reem Developers for infrastructure works in the Najmat area of Reem Island, which include roads and utilities as well as construction of two canal bridges. Other projects include the construction of Danet Mall on Danet Abu Dhabi for Hydra Properties and a mixed-use building on Danet Abu Dhabi for Sorouh.
