SOME 52 major developers are expected to begin construction at their sites at Energy City Qatar (ECQ), which will be the Gulf region’s first oil and gas industry hub.

ECQ will form part of the major new city development at Lusail, the northern expansion of Doha which will be home to up to 200,000 people. Another landmark development within Lusail is Qatar Entertainment City. Last July, an agreement was signed by the authorities of the city with Kuwait-based United Real Estate Company to develop the $3 billion Tarfeeh City as an anchor development. Meanwhile, a $275 million theme park proposed for Entertainment City by Qatari company Onyx Holdings has moved ahead with the signing of an agreement with Six Flags to provide planning services. A new $3.5 billion golf residential project, named Al Sidra, has also been proposed for Lusail.
