Precast Concrete

Ranco embarks on major expansion

Ranco has carried out several prominent projects in Saudi Arabia.

Ranco Precast Concrete, which was established three decades ago, has now joined hands with the Zamil Industrial Group to form Ranco & Zamil Precast Concrete Industry.

The new joint venture company offers an extensive portfolio of products that includes circular and rectangular columns, hollowcore slabs, plinth foundations, precast panels (load-bearing and non-load bearing), prestressed beams, prestressed double-TT slabs and flat slabs, boundary walls, road application products such as new jersey barriers and manholes, among other precast products.
Not wasting any time, the company has already unleashed a string of expansion plans to position itself at the forefront of the precast industry. “Since its establishment earlier this year,” says Fadi Daher, business development and marketing manager, “Ranco & Zamil Precast Concrete Industry has approved a number of expansion plans to increase its production capacity. These expansion programmes, some of which are already under way, will catapult Ranco & Zamil to the forefront of the industry in regards to quality as well as its volume of production.”
For instance, Daher points out, the new company’s hollowcore factory will have 14 hollowcore beds in addition to the existing four.  By the end of this year, the expanded facility will have 10 lines operational while the remaining eight will come on stream by the end of 2009. The new production lines will also introduce new thicknesses of hollowcore of up to 50 cm to its portfolio, using up-to-date extrusion processes.
Daher continues: “Similarly our panel production unit is being presently expanded and upgraded, where new tilting tables and a new panel transportation system are being added to enable the facility to produce all types of panels, columns and beams and boost our capacity.”
The company has embarked on these plans to meet the demand in the construction industry in general and the increasing popularity of its products, he points out.
As a leading precast manufacturer in Saudi Arabia, the venture now includes a new breed of dedicated workforce, including skilled engineers and technical professionals who are committed to enhancing the output and quality of its precast products.
Quality control is an integral part of the production process at Ranco & Zamil Precast Concrete Industry. Says Daher: “We conduct regular checks on the quality and consistency of the material used during the production process as well as on the final product as well. All this is done in-house at our well-equipped testing laboratory by our qualified quality control engineers. Our main quality management objective is to ensure a well-satisfied customer in order to establish a lifelong business relationship.”
Ranco & Zamil commitment towards satisfying its customers gives it a competitive edge in the market. As Daher points out: “We not only achieve the most economical designs for our customers, but also ensure that we meet their requirements by organising our schedules to suit their priorities and by accommodating changes as requested by them. We also provide effective customer support and advice through our well-experienced engineering staff.”
The company, according to him, continuously seeks to update its technology, using the latest and most sophisticated material testing laboratories.  In addition, it adopts HSE (health, safety and environment) practices to ensure a safety and clean environment.
Established in 1979 as Ranco Precast Concrete on the old Riyadh-Dammam Road, the company has established two other regional branches in the Eastern Province (Al Khobar) and the Western Province (Jeddah) of Saudi Arabia to cater to its clients throughout the kingdom.
Some of the many prestigious projects that have been designed, produced and erected by its competent civil and structural engineers include the Arab Urban Development Institute Building in the Diplomatic Quarter, King Saud Girls Medicine Building, the Jarrir Book Store Building and the Hayatt Mall in Riyadh as well as the Dar Alyoum building in Dammam.
As a leading supplier to SEC (Saudi Electricity Company), the company has also carried out work on SEC’s substation projects.
“Ranco & Zamil Precast Concrete Industry is proud to have served the construction industry in Saudi Arabia in general and our customers in particular and hopes to continue doing so for many years to come through our up-to-date factory,” he concludes.
