US-based Trane has been selected to recommend and deliver its heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for the kingdom’s Bahrain City Centre project being developed by Majid Al Futtaim (MAF).
“MAF primarily required high efficiency chillers, to produce chilled water at the lowest total cost that would result in a high return on investment. In order to meet the criteria set by the client, MAF Dalkia Middle East, the project owner representative, performed a 20-year life cycle cost analysis, to determine the true lowest total life cycle cost of ownership systems for the owner,” says a spokesman for Trane.
“Trane systems proved to be the most energy efficient with the highest return on investment,” says the spokesman. “The company recommended and provided its CenTraVac EarthWise duplex centrifugal chillers, which are the most energy-efficient systems on the market today.”
Trane will supply seven of these chillers, each of which delivers 2,133 tons of cooling and when fully commissioned, the chillers will provide 14,931 tons of district cooling for the project.
These same chillers have been installed in many of Dubai’s most prominent buildings including the Burj Dubai, Mall of the Emirates, and Discovery Gardens, as well as retail facilities around the world.
The main contract of this project was awarded to Cebarco-WCT, and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contract was awarded to Voltas Limited.
Bahrain City Centre will be the first integrated leisure and shopping destination in Bahrain, and second largest in the Gulf region.
Located in the heart of Manama, the three-level shopping complex with a total built up area of 450,000 sq m will offer over 360 stores.
