Jotun UAE has been awarded the ISO 9001: 2000 standard for its quality management system by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Jotun UAE, a leading manufacturer of decorative, marine and protective coatings, recently relocated its head office to the Al Qouz industrial area of Dubai.
The certification follows an intensive audit programme carried out by DNV in order to verify the company's effective implementation of the quality standard,  says Peter Holyoak (quality assurance and technical advisor).
The audit covered all aspects of the standard and included the Jotun UAE distribution network in Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
The DNV lead auditor commented during the formal closing meeting that he was impressed with the organisation's level of commitment to the quality system and the design of its process mapping system, according to the spokesman.
"The successful implementation of the ISO 9001: 2000 quality standard represents a significant achievement for the company and has provided an opportunity to design a quality management system that achieves business excellence," says Erik Aaberg, the managing director of Jotun UAE.
Advanced process mapping techniques were used to identify and link the company's key business processes. The integration of the Jotun UAE strategy plan into the company's quality policy and objectives have resulted in a system that measures and monitors the key performance indicators of the company.
Jotun UAE is building a new factory at Al Quoz capable of producing 50 million litres annually.
The completion is scheduled for early 2004.
