Ipalyss ... made from Diamatec.

Ideal Standard unveils ultra-thin vessel basins

IDEAL Standard has introduced Ipalyss, a high-end, ultra-thin design vessels basin range created from an extremely durable ceramic material called Diamatec.

Researchers from the company drew on over 100 years of ceramic expertise inspired by Bernard de Palissy, the famous 16th century French ceramicist who relentlessly pursued the secrets of very fine ceramics.

The result of their research and development was a new material, Diamatec, whose exceptional robustness allows designers to achieve the near impossible: Extremely thin, straight edges that are robust and durable – a highly challenging and complex combination, according to a spokesman for Ideal Standard.

The Ipalyss range is supplied in three configurations: a vessel without overflow, which maximises internal volume; a vessel with overflow, and one with overflow and a deck. The overflow in these vessels has been thoughtfully integrated into the design. The result is a discreet, slotted design that does not compromise the clean lines and minimalism of the piece.

‘Light design’ is an important influence in fields as varied as architecture, manufacturing, and fashion. Products in the Ipalyss range are especially well suited for demanding environments, such as hotels, where an effective combination of aesthetics and durability is of paramount importance.

The design maximises available vessel space resulting in an enhanced user experience. The striking aesthetics of the Ipalyss range were developed in collaboration with the award-winning British designer Robin Levien and his design studio, who have been designing for Ideal Standard for 30 years.

Ideal Standard International, a leading provider of innovative bathroom solutions, is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, and operates in over 60 countries. Its local company, Ideal Standard Mena –  with head offices in Dubai, UAE – focuses on business in the Middle East, Egypt and Africa.

Faenza ... classically designed door lever.

A PERRY and Co (Hinges) from Britain has taken the traditional concept of a door lever and expanded it into handles that are decorative with its new sophisticated door furniture range.

Horizon, created from premium solid forged brass components, has been distinctly manufactured so force goes into the body of the door rather than the handle, avoiding wear and damage.

Company director Ian Dunnaker says: “We understood that the market needed high quality yet stylish door furniture products and Horizon is just that. We believe these products are going to lead a revolutionary change in the ironmongery sector.”

The exclusive, precisely engineered range comes with modern classic designs, with a superior finish for extended life and a 25-year mechanical guarantee. All the products, which include door knockers, lever on rose door handles, escutcheons and handles, are suitable for 35- to 44-mm door thicknesses. The range includes the Casoria door handle, which is on round rose and finished in satin nickel; Faenza, a classically designed door lever which comes in either polished chrome or satin nickel; Gioto door lever, which is simple with curves and also comes in either polished chrome or satin nickel; and Modica door handle, which has chiselled edges and contrasting finishes.
