It’s electrifying!

The interiors of the W Dubai in Al Habtoor City represents the energy and vibrancy of Dubai with electric patterns across the walls and floors

The interiors of the recently opened W Dubai hotel in Al Habtoor City – like every W Hotel around the world – draws inspiration from its vibrant location.

Dubai city has seen monumental growth in recent decades and has developed from its historical roots as an important stop on the Silk Route to a global trade, tourism and business hub.

For W Dubai – Al Habtoor City, the design brings to life the city’s constant buzz and vitality. Developed by Al Habtoor Group, the hotel is managed by Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Designed by Silverfox Studios, all 356 rooms and suites of W Dubai boast a bold and contemporary design.

“Rising 33 storeys high, W Dubai – Al Habtoor City puts a new spotlight on the pulsating heart of Dubai as the ultimate powerhouse, where guests can enjoy the brand’s iconic ‘Whatever/Whenever’ service philosophy that delivers whatever they want, whenever they want it,” says a spokesperson for the hotel.

Guests checking into the hotel are whisked up 30 floors to W Lounge, W Hotels’ reinterpretation of the traditional hotel lobby. Here, a multitude of lounge and entertainment areas set within a multi-tiered floor space will become the second home to Dubai’s style set. Within this venue, panoramic views of the city’s stunning skyline and the soon-to-be completed Dubai Water Canal are to be enjoyed alongside stylish cocktails and sizzling beats.

W Lounge is the driving force behind the hotel’s design direction. “Inspired by the hotel’s location adjacent to the energy and vibrancy of Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, the interiors feature provocative linear and electric patterns across the walls and floors, representing how the city of Dubai is in a constant flux and has a strong social rhythm,” the spokesman says.

In the rooms, future forward technology and custom furnishings double as abstract art to complement the vivid colour palette against the sleek lines of the minimalist guestrooms.

Adding to the bright and fresh mood, the open concept bathroom-to-bedroom creates a fluid flow throughout, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the city and sea. In the bathrooms, a modern colourful wall design uses pink and red pixilation, in contrast with the minimalist white of the guestrooms, adding movement and energy to the space while creating a graphic visual interest, which is fun for the guest and an almost party-like – yet calming – environment.

Guestrooms and public areas have open-plan spaces throughout for a fluid flow, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the city and sea.

Two striking suites that deserve special mention are the 449-sq-m Sensational Suite and 690-sq-m Extreme Wow Suite. The Sensational Suite is centred around a bar, with an adjoining majlis-style lounge, DJ booth, dance stage, bar and kitchenette. The bedroom features the signature W Bed, W pillow menu, a walk-in closet, ensuite bathroom, Jacuzzi and steam room.

The colourful wall design in the bathrooms contrasts with the minimalist white of the guestrooms.

The Extreme Wow Suite – the W brand’s take on a Presidential Suite – occupies the 27th and 28th floors with panoramic views of Dubai’s dazzling skyline, bustling Sheikh Zayed Road, and the glistening Arabian Gulf. The suite’s sophisticated urban features include a kitchenette, spacious lounge area, multi-event area, wine chiller, bar, DJ station, dance floor, catwalk ramp and pool table.

On the hotel exterior and at Wheels, the welcome area on the ground floor, linear lighting and patterns resemble the rays of light from busy night-time traffic around the city.

W Lounge follows an open-plan design; it is where the check-in desks, lobby lounge and bar area flow and merge together. This spatial arrangement has been explored to maximise its potential as the most dynamic area within the building. The open-plan design generates a natural flow of energy through W Lounge to encourage socialising, providing the ultimate venue for Dubai’s residents and visitors to mix and mingle.

A vibrant world where culinary innovation, mixology, music, fashion and design meet, W Lounge is destined to become the city’s newest social hotspot. The intention is that W Lounge will generate a social energy that appeals to trendsetters and seekers looking to be seen and heard.

W Lounge is a space with 9.5-m-high ceilings set within a multi-tiered open-plan space. It is conceived as the hotel’s central hub, or core, that connects the rest of the hotel.

Also with more than 1,000 sq m of event space and meeting rooms, W Dubai – Al Habtoor City orchestrates fully adaptable conference equipment and world-class audio-visual facilities to set the stage for lively and spectacular presentations. The Al Habtoor City development features two other Starwood hotels. The St Regis Dubai opened last November and the soon-to-open Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City complete the Al Habtoor City Hotel Collection along with W Dubai.
