Rapid Access, a Dubai-based powered access rental company, is currently in the process of starting a full rental and sales operation in Saudi Arabia.
The company is investing $4.8 million on its new Dhahran depot and will hold 57 machines permanently in the depot.
Rapid Access's entry into Saudi Arabia comes close on the heels of the company launching its $1.5 million Bahrain depot.
The expansion is part of the company's continued commitment to develop new markets and further expand its fleet, says a spokesman.
The Bahrain depot currently holds a complete fleet of 31 machines, covering all access solutions.
"As well as capital investment in machinery, additional investment will include full machine service and wash area, laydown yard, training facilities, and permanent administration and management offices," says Brian Harrigan from the Bahrain depot.
Rapid Access forms part of the UK-based Lavendon Group, which is claimed to be Europe's largest powered access rental company.
Launched in the UAE just two-and-a half years ago, Rapid Access has grown to become one of the UAE's leading powered access company, with over Dh40 million ($10.8 million) invested in equipment in that time, and further investment planned, continues Harrigan.
The company's fleet can offer:
Harrigan says traditional access methods such as scaffolding, ladders, aluminium towers, and cradles belong to yesterday's technology.
"They are being rapidly superseded by the versatility, convenience and economy of powered access," he points out.
"Powered access equipment is used to provide temporary aerial access in a whole range of applications. It is highly effective, saving both time and labour cost thanks to its speed and manoeuvrability," he says.
The applications include:
Some of the current jobs of the Bahrain depot include projects for Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) and Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) in Bahrain and Hawaiyah gas plant in Saudi Arabia.
