Saudi Readymix – a leading producer and supplier of readymixed concrete and related products in Saudi Arabia – recently sponsored the kingdom’s first workshop on Concrete Deterioration and Prevention, organised by the Center for Engineering Research at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).
The first workshop at the KFUPM on Concrete Deterioration and Prevention saw the participation from leading organisations, and served as a forum for local industry and research organisations to discuss the recurring problems of concrete durability in the Middle East, and the advances in repair and rehabilitation methodologies, says the company.
Saudi Readymix’s expert technical director Willfried Krieg presented his findings on the Characteristics and Durability of High-Performance Concrete to the gathered audience at the workshop, which took place in Al Khobar on February 28.
“The topic of the workshop is particularly pertinent given the region’s boom in large-scale industrial development and real estate projects requiring large quantities of concrete,” comments Krieg. “We are grateful to KFUPM for having arranged and hosted such a forum for industry professionals to share best practices, and are happy to have had the opportunity to lend our support.”
“Saudi Readymix is in the process of increasing capacity and coverage with an investment of over SR320 million ($85.3 million), and thus it is crucial we are at the top of our game regarding the longevity of our product,” he adds.
Saudi Readymix is the leading producer and supplier of readymixed concrete and related products in Saudi Arabia. Established in 1978, it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khalid Ali Alturki and Sons group of companies (Alturki Group), a leading industrial conglomerate, and employs a total workforce of more than 1,700 managerial, administrative, technical and operational staff. Its teams of experts offer technical advice and assistance to customers throughout Saudi Arabia.
They operate local, regional and central laboratories, which develop mix designs, conduct routine testing and analyses on its concrete products and research new products under development. They also conduct in-house technical training of all its employees.
Since its establishment, Saudi Readymix has worked on an impressive array of prestigious projects for both the public and the private sectors. Most of the company’s stations are officially approved as suppliers to major governmental and industrial authorities, such as Saudi Aramco, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), the Royal Commission, the Ministry of Defence and Aviation (MoDA), among others.
The company’s network of plants and stations are strategically located throughout the kingdom in order to cover all major commercial and industrial areas, including: Dammam, Sihat, Aziziyah, Hofuf, Jubail, Khafji, Khursaniyah, north, west and south Riyadh, Al Kharj, north and south Jeddah, Jeddah Briman, Makkah, Madinah, Rabigh and Yanbu.
The company says it currently operates the largest fleet of readymixed concrete equipment in the country with more than 300 truck mixers and 90 mobile pumps.
Its products include an immense library of concrete mixes, many of which are unique to the company; hot mix asphalt; quarry products and concrete masonry units.
