Leading international industrial power tools and accessories manufacturer DeWalt has further expanded its plunge router range with the new DW626 half-inch router that has been designed to meet the demands of professional users by providing high standards of power, rigidity, accuracy and durability.
Exceptionally easy to handle and control, the new machine joins the already established DW625EK router in the DeWalt half-inch range, but by no means replaces it, says Suresh Srinivasan, product manager, DeWalt Industrial Tools – Middle East and Africa. “’The DW625EK will still be the favourite of many users who require its superb balance and refinement. The DW626 is the powerhouse of the DeWalt range and is designed for the user who either needs the extra power that it can provide, in very demanding applications, or who mostly uses a half-inch machine in a table.”
With a rating of 2300 W, the new 93 mm motor is the most powerful in the DeWalt router range. It combines high torque with low levels of vibration and long-life performance and ensures that large plunges and passes are achieved with maximum productivity but without compromising safety, he points out.
An electronic module controls the starting torque of the motor so that it advances slowly towards the selected operating speed of between 8,000 and 21,000 rpm. Staged speed control allows the router’s cutting speed to be set to suit the work piece and application. Phosphor bronze bushes, which are resistant to wear and tear, provide support rigidity to the plunge column and ensure smooth, accurate and controlled plunge movements.
“The handles of the DW626 are fully adjustable to suit individual user requirements and increase comfort and productivity in repetitive applications. The router also has a bearing seal plate, which protects the lower spindle support bearing from duct ingress when the machine is inverted when in table use, maintaining the bearings’ supportive function and improving long-term performance,” he explains.
The collet fitted to the DW626 ensures a uniformly secure grip around the cutter shank. In addition to maintaining the accuracy of the cutter position, the collet provides safe cutter retention and reduces vibration.
“Like all DeWalt power tools and machinery, the new DW626 router is the result of in-depth user research. Its high power output provides excellent cutting and plunge performance, producing a superb level of finish at high rates of productivity and should more than meet the stringent demands of professional users,” Srinivasan concludes.
