Hilti, a world leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing, value-added, innovative systems for professionals in the construction and building maintenance industry, has launched Profis (Professional Information System) Anchor v1.0 – the most powerful anchor specification software in the world.
Profis is Hilti’s brand new, PC-based software platform built to support design applications across Hilti’s product range. Profis Anchor v1.0 is Hilti’s first release based on this new technology, which has been developed to ISO 9000 standards.
Large advances in program functionality have put a wealth of application expertise and a 3D virtual anchor design world at the specifier’s fingertips. The high level of visualisation offered makes for previously unseen ease of use and design freedom. The result is more anchor selection confidence in less time, for more application safety.
Specifiers need reassurance that the anchor products they select for construction projects perform the way they are designed to, with varying base materials and base plate configurations, under diverse load conditions. After all, mistakes made can cost lives, so specifying is a crucial, time-consuming process – even with currently available software programs. With many projects to work on and deadlines to fulfill, specifiers need to be able to react quickly, communicating design details with maximum confidence.
The Liechtenstein-based Hilti has long been producing software tools that make the job of anchor specification easier, increasing the reliability of solution choice for more overall safety. With Profis Anchor v1.0, Hilti now introduces an easy-to-use, ergonomic design software that incorporates a depth of application expertise and richness of features never before seen in an anchor design software package. It lets users decide the level of program detail for themselves – ranging from anchor calculation in a few easy stages to definition of all variables.
Design freedom
The software offers more depth of functionality than any other anchor design program, including a number of significant features exclusive to Hilti that greatly enhance the user’s freedom and efficiency:
• Easy-to-use, comprehensive anchor selector feature;
• Database of CAD drawings for all Hilti anchors via drag-and-drop menu – can be exported, also to other formats;
• Base plate shaping in 3D-modeling using finite element analysis for base plate thickness calculation;
• Free anchor location in 2D/3D modeling application; and
• Personalisation and storage of all set-tings, for user-defined views.
Other major features include:
• Level of program detail as desired – from quick calculation in a few stages to full definition of all variables;
• Full-screen graphical input with all dimensions visible;
• User-defined print output;
• Easy-to-understand anchor setting ani-mations for added support;
• Support for 13 different design methods and 16 languages; and
• Keep up with the latest standards with regular downloads.
Few easy steps
With Profis Anchor v1.0 anchor fastening designs can be completed in a few simple steps:
1. Base plate geometry and anchor position – 3D model: Select the anchor positions and base plate to use, then click on the values displayed in the 3D model to change anchor spacing, base plate dimensions, the edge distance and steel profile configuration.
2. Base material properties – 3D model: Select whether installation is in cracked or uncracked concrete, providing other relevant material details, then click on the anchor base plate in the 3D model to specify the base plate material.
3. Load input – 3D model: Click on the 3D model to specify whether characteristic, design or dynamic loads should be selected. Load values inside the 3D model can be changed simply by a mouse click.
4. Product panel and calculation: Enter the product panel to specify further anchor properties in the checklist. A small selection of anchors is automatically selected. Anchor design calculation can now begin.
5. Create a finished design document.
Once calculation has been completed, the results are visible in the product panel on screen, following which an Adobe PDF (portable document format) design document is created, containing exact details of the fastenings to be made – in either short or long form.
More confidence and safety
Profis Anchor v1.0 comes with all major anchor approvals documentation built-in, in the PDF file format. Also available are the relevant pages of Hilti’s comprehensive Fastening Technology Manual for anchor properties and setting instructions as well as helpful video animations of the setting process.
Hilti anchor products are approved nationally and internationally to the highest standards.
Profis Anchor v1.0 along with any future updates are available easily either by downloading it from the Hilti website or also on CD-ROM. Future updates can be downloaded and installed.
