The T140 ... a well balanced, high performance, compact tool carrier.

Bobcat has launched its smallest compact tracked loader yet – the T140 – which it claims is a versatile machine that can be used in a wide range of applications especially in landscaping operations.

The T140 is now the smallest compact tracked loader in the five-model range from Bobcat, a business of Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited, a diversified industrial firm. Rated at 650 kg (50 per cent of the tipping load), the T140 is only 1.42 m wide and weighs in at 2,914 kg. It is described as being ideal for applications where ground conditions demand good flotation and/or increased traction.
Powered by the 34.3 kW Kubota V2203 diesel engine, the new T140 is a well-balanced, high-performance compact tool carrier that will appeal to a wide range of users in applications such as construction, equipment rental, recycling, landscaping, local authorities, agriculture, forestry and nurseries, says a spokesman for Ingersoll-Rand.
“The hydraulic pump flow on the T140 is 64.0 l/min, making it an excellent tool carrier for the more than 40 different attachments designed for use with this machine,” he says. The T140 is equipped as standard with the quick-change Bob-Tach attachment mounting frame. However, customers can choose the optional Power Bob-Tach system to change non-hydraulic attachments simply by flipping a switch inside the cab.”
Performance aside, the manufacturer has given serious thought to enhancing other aspects such as safety and increased comfort to operators.
“When working in tough conditions, the enhanced comfort offered by the operator cab on the T140 is an important feature, reducing operator fatigue and allowing more work to be carried out for longer periods. Equipped with front and rear lights, the cab has a large front opening and head clearance, with a cushioned suspension seat that is fully adjustable to the operator’s weight and features the Bobcat Interlock Control System (BICS) for safety. The rear-pivot seat bar is easy to pull down or push up and provides ample room for larger operators and more rest area for the arms. An optional enclosed cab door and heating/air conditioning system also contribute to enhanced operator comfort,” he explains.
The instrumentation in the cab on the T140 provides the operator with a wealth of information. Arranged in two groups in convenient locations at the front of the cab, one in the top left-hand corner and the other in the top-right, the instrument panels and gauges are easy to read and use.
There is a choice of panels on the right-hand side – a standard system or an optional deluxe instrument panel with additional features. Other options include advanced hand controls (AHC) and the advanced control system (ACS) for foot or hand control of lift-and-tilt functions and a back-up alarm.
As well as the T140 model, the Bobcat range of compact tracked loaders includes the T180 and T250 radial lift arm models and the T190 and T300 vertical lift-path loaders.
Like the larger models, the T140 loader is suitable for any application where soil compaction and ground disturbance should be minimised. Moreover, since the rubber tracks will not mark paved surfaces, the T140 tracked loader can easily travel over and be used on public roads.
“Special applications include use in clean-up work after severe storms, floods, and natural disasters, particularly in areas and in conditions where the use of larger machines is restricted,” he concludes.
