With a maximum operating weight of 50,250 kg and bucket capacity of 2.26 cu m in long-undercarriage configuration, the E485 is designed for high-production in demanding applications.
It has both the power and capacity to efficiently load 30 to 35 tonne trucks in five to six passes, says a company spokesman.
In addition, with the sophisticated hydraulics systems and work mode selector, the E485 offers exceptional versatility for high production in applications requiring use of breakers, demolition tools and other attachments.
The new model delivers a level of productivity that is significantly higher than the previous model. Maximum digging depth (standard configuration) is 8.3 m, dump height is 7.8 m and reach is over 12 m. Breakout force at the bucket is 24,800 daN increasing to 27,000 daN with power boost activated.
An operator’s machine
The spacious ROPS/FOPS cab features large glass areas and a transparent roof to give the operator exceptional all-round visibility.
Sound levels within the cab are maintained at a low level because of the effective use of sound suppression materials and elasto-viscous cab mountings effectively reduce the transmission of vibrations to the operator.
The air-suspension seat has been ergonomically designed and is fully adjustable to suit individual operator’s specific requirements. Pedals, levers and control panels are positioned for convenience, ease of use and visibility.
The advanced hydraulic system also contributes to operator comfort by contributing to more efficient working.
Advanced hydraulic systems
The E485’s smart hydraulic system provides outstanding machine control, even during simultaneous operations. The latest generation of artificial intelligence built in to the on-board computer provides automatic priority sensing to deliver the right amount of power where it is most needed, he says.
The computer also monitors the engine speed constantly to provide the most efficient power for total of installed hydraulic power. This contributes to the fuel efficiency of the E485.
In addition, the computer incorporates a maintenance programme, self-diagnostics and operating data storage.
To give the E485 maximum versatility, it also features Fiat Kobelco’s Mechatronic work selector enabling the operator to choose from three operating modes.
• Standard mode, the most suitable option for routine working
• Heavy/Mechatronic mode – is for applications where maximum hydraulic power is demanded.
• Attachments mode – offers extreme versatility by enabling the operator to select and store information from the cab as applicable to specific attachments.
The advanced hydraulic system also features a power boost device to give bursts of additional power, at the press of a button, to ensure maximum digging penetration in tough, heavy materials.
Powerful, compliant
The Isuzu diesel engine powertrain delivers 250 kW at 1950 rpm and complies to Tier-2 emission norms. It has adequate displacement to deliver the high torque demanded of a machine of this size while maintaining low fuel consumption.
A two-speed hydrostatic drive provides a travel speed of up to 5.6 km/h and the ability to travel 70 per cent (35 deg) slope.
A heavy-duty track with increased link pitch gives stability, strength and durability in tough underfoot conditions.
