Hilti has launched a high-performance adhesive, which makes difficulty in bonding rebars in place due to unsuitable weather a thing of the past, according to the Hilti Regional Office in Dubai.
Known as the HIT-RE 500, the system has been designed for anchoring reinforced bars of different diameters and at great depth. Developed especially to secure rebars in existing components, the injection adhesive is also suitable for a wide range of applications, setting directions and conditions.
'When specifying an anchoring system, a key criterion is reliability in very different conditions,' says a spokesman for Hilti Regional Office. 'Hilti HIT-RE 500 adhesive isn't at all sensitive to oversized, dirty or wet anchor holes. Furthermore, it can also be used in holes drilled with rotary hammers or diamond bits.'
Reliability
This adhesive's innovative formulation maximises safety for specifiers and optimises working conditions for users, he points out.
'For example, Hilti HIT-RE 500 provides sufficient time for the final adjustment of installed rebars, on the one hand, and has a relatively short curing time, on the other. These unique product features apply to an unequalled temperature range of minus 5 deg to 40 deg C,' the spokesman says.
Pioneering
'High performance and ease of handling are not the only attributes of this new adhesive - the system is virtually odourless and due to its distinctive red colour, checking post-installed rebars couldn't be easier,' he points out. 'After all, a single glance immediately confirms that the new Hilti HIT-RE 500 injection adhesive was used for safety's sake.'
Well proven
He continues: 'Hilti HIT-RE 500 fits ideally in the Hilti HIT injection system - a programme that has proven itself worldwide. This means that there's no problem using foil packs or cartridges of this new adhesive in any Hilti HIT dispenser currently on the market - no matter whether it functions manually, pneumatically or battery-powered. This choice and two foil pack/cartridge sizes – 330 and 1100 ml – ensure that tailor-made solutions exist for each application. Furthermore, the Hilti HIT system assures users of a constant level of adhesive quality even after long work breaks, thus ensuring even more economical use of material.”
“Thanks to the new Hilti HIT-RE 500, those days are past when rebars couldn't be bonded in place due to unsuitable temperatures or bad weather, thus delaying construction progress,” the spokesman points out.
“Today, it doesn’t matter whether temperatures are below zero or tropical, whether rebar holes are wet, even full of rain water, the easy handling and high performance of the new, red adhesive can be relied on.
“Now, construction companies have an easier method for sticking to schedules. Engineers can specify a fastening system that is impressively tolerant towards installation errors.”
“The market will very soon verify that through a concerted innovation effort, Hilti fastening specialists have once again succeeded in producing a top product in the form of the new, red HIT-RE 500 injection adhesive,” he concludes.
