Schnell, a leading name in the field of rebar processing that has completed several challenging rebar products in the region, is looking forward to a busier work schedule in the region in the days ahead.
An established name in the UAE since 1993 – when it had supplied the first cutting and bending plant – the company has grown from strength to strength and has been associated with some of the larger projects in the region.
The company has recently supplied processed rebar for all the foundation cages of Dubai International airport new Terminal 3.
“The fact that the company has the largest range of rebar processing equipment – including shearlines, double-headed automatic bending systems, state-of-the-art coil processing machines and the most advanced cage making machines – gives it the backing to process foundation cages and pre-assembled structures of any size that will facilitate reinforcement fixing,” says a spokesman for the Italy-based company.
Schnell played a very significant role in supplying all the machines necessary to complete the production of the cages for a total of 8,500 reinforced concrete foundation piles on the DIA project.
“Piling subcontractor Corporate Technology proposed using the GTM Schnell and Gricor cage machines to construct around 28,560 cages, some of which were 45 m long, and the proposal was accepted by the contracting company of the DIA project,” the spokesman points out.
“Seven cage machines with GTM welding robots operated at the facility, producing about 100 cages a day with longitudinal rods of 40 mm diameter and a spiral of 16 mm with a step of 75 mm. Although the total time allowed for completion was 18 months, the contractors could complete the fabrication work much ahead of schedule.
“In the DIA project, Schnell was able to offer a product suited to the specific requirements of a particularly demanding customer in compliance with the strict safety standards,” he adds.
