Eagle Electromechanical Company (EECO), a UAE-based leading specialist in water and waste treatment works, has recently completed a string of prestigious projects that demonstrate its commitment to the environment.
It has just completed the commissioning works on a 30,000 cu m/day sewage treatment plant for Nakheel at The Gardens. The turnkey project involves the design, supply, installation, commissioning and a 10-year operation and maintenance of the plant where the treated effluent will be used for irrigation and landscaping and dried sludge used as fertilizer. It also commissioned a 3,000 cu m/day sewage treatment plant at Emirates Hills in 2002 and a 6,000 cu m/day sewage treatment plant at Arabian Ranches (both for Emaar Properties), says a company spokesman.
Among other landmark projects completed by EECO last year was the Dubai Autodrome and Business Park project, where it installed and commissioned a 180 cu m/day sewage treatment plant as the first phase. The plant will have a final capacity of 2100 cu m/day with future expansions. All the treated water will utilised for landscaping at the Autodrome area. The plant meets the highest international standards for the equipment specification and the water quality, the spokesman points out. The system is automatically controlled by a PLC (programmable logic control) automatic control system with a modem link to monitor the plant a distance.
Established in 1985, EECO is one of the leading environmental companies in the UAE, providing practical and optimal solutions to local environmental requirements for industrial, commercial and municipal applications, with the capacity of executing turnkey projects across the globe. The company is a specialist in custom-design, supply, construction, operation and maintenance of water treatment works, waste water treatment works, sewage treatment plants, chlorination systems and odour control systems.
As a specialist in wastewater treatment works, EECO has a good track record with all relevant authorities in the UAE such as the Abu Dhabi and Dubai municipalities, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Armed Forces, Emaar Properties, Nakheel Corporation, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubal, Union Properties, Ministry of Interior and five-star hotels, the spokesman adds.
“We have to our credit more than 80 wastewater treatment works projects, for both the public and private sectors, throughout the emirates, which is not a small achievement by any means,” he says.
EECO’s aim of continuous commercial growth has led it to eye markets beyond the UAE and the Gulf. Already, the company is made its presence felt in the international markets with the successful completion of the Baku sewage treatment plant in Azerbaijan, two plants in Sudan and several chlorination systems in Oman, Libya and Iran.
The company launched into sewage treatment works in the late 80s, when it executed a few projects with a certain period of operation as a part of the contract. This led the company to make forays into the realm of operation and maintenance services and established a reputation in management of operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plants and pumping station networks.
In a relatively short span of time, EECO has managed to carve its own niche in the design and supply of water and waste water treatment works and associated services.
“Our philosophy is to maintain the high environmental standard,” the spokesman says. “EECO’s commitment to maintain highest industrial standards has helped its phenomenal growth in a short period of time. The company has always strived to surpass the customers’ expectations and develop a working relationship with its clients.”
The company started operations from its base in Sharjah, which is still its head office. To meet the market requirements, it opened up a branch office in Abu Dhabi (1992) and a second office in Dubai (1995) as Al Hijaz Mechanical Equipment Company.
EECO has on board a team of more than 800 highly-qualified engineers, designers and technicians. Continuous training and development plus an in-depth product knowledge ensure that its personnel are kept abreast of the latest developments to support the company’s commitment to maintain the highest of standards, says the spokesman.
“The system of close coordination between personnel from the project design to planning and execution, enables instant decision-making to solve any unforeseen problems during the project’s progress,” he adds.
