Ajman-based Rubber World Industries (RWI) – which claims to have pioneered the production of closed cell elastomeric rubber insulation (Gulf O Flex) in the GCC and southeast Asian region – is launching a superior quality product line by the brand name of Cool Flex catering specifically to its export markets.

This includes markets in Europe and the Americas as well as Asian, African, Australian, Far Eastern and CIS countries.
RWI has set up a special product development and research cell in Germany and, backed by its own innovative production processes, will soon launch Cool Flex which will meet all the standards of technical specifications for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) stipulated by these markets.
“Being an ISO 9001-certified company, we are continuously evolving our products and have introduced many varieties to date,” says Shafat Ullah Khan, manager sales and marketing.
RWI conforms to all the major world standards set for top quality thermal insulation including American Standard of Testing Material  (ASTM) and most important fire propagation standards of BS 476 part 6 and 7 class 'O’ and class ‘1’ approvals from Warrington Fire Research, Khan points out.
The company – now a major exporter – supplies 50 per cent of its production to markets in 55 countries across the Middle East, Far East, Africa, Americas, Europe and South Asia, Australia and CIS countries.
“We had a modest beginning in 1996, and were exporting one or two containers of Gulf- O -Flex per year to countries including Pakistan. However, thanks to the quality and reliability of our products, we are now shifting 25 to 30 container loads to Pakistan. Same is the case with India and many other countries,” says Khan.
In a bid to meet the increasing demand, the company – which was operating a single shift – is now working three shifts, seven days a week.
To ensure timely delivery both in the local and the export markets, the company is planning to launch another production facility soon.
“We have to expand,” Khan states. “We are finding it difficult to meet the demands of both local and international clients with our existing facilities. Already the pressure is immense and we are working at full capacity.”
“We have expanded our export network across the globe and attend major HVAC exhibitions, including Ashrae expos,” he adds.
RWI’s main product Gulf O Flex is produced at a state-of-the-art production facility in Ajman Industrial Area. Engineering, design, production and testing are done in-house as this ensures the standard of performance, he says. Most importantly, all the product varieties are 100 per cent tested for sore hardness, thermal stability, absorption, permeability, flammability etc.
“Gulf O Flex is a premium-quality rubber insulation for air-conditioning, refrigeration and heating made out of the best raw materials from Europe and the US. It is CFC (chlorofluorocarbon)-free and all varieties are totally safe for the environment,” Khan stresses.
Gulf-O-Flex, which has a closed cell structure with a finished skin,  is resistant to chemicals and oil, withstands extreme temperature ranging between minus 40 deg C to 120 deg C and has outstanding UV (ultraviolet) and weather resistance in outdoor applications. Its smooth surface gives the finished installation a neat and aesthetic appearance, he adds. No coating is necessary on most indoor installations.
The company also produces rubber insulation for leading air-conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers such as Carrier under its brand name Total Line Insulations.
Despite its large market outside the UAE, RWI gives due attention to the local market which is seeing a phenomenal boom, says Khan.
“Already, we have been associated with various prestigious projects in the Palm Beach Residence, International City and we intend to further strengthen our position in this booming market,” he concludes.
