The Building and Roads Company (Barco), a key road and infrastructure contractor in Kuwait, says it is determined to remain one of the frontrunners in the country’s roads and infrastructure segment.

“Despite fierce competition among contractors, there is plenty of business in the offing for professionals,” says general manager Elias Zoorob.
He continues: “We are looking forward with a great deal of optimism towards present and future business in Kuwait and we are determined to grow in strength.”
Barco, which was established in 1961, has been involved in executing several prestigious projects in Kuwait including  the extension to the Fifth Ring Road and Doha suburb roads and other infrastructure works. It owns and efficiently operates an asphalt production plant with a capacity of 150 tonnes per hour, together with a fleet of specialised equipment, plant and transport, capable of constructing sizable projects involving roads and associated infrastructure facilities.
The company is an affiliate to the well-known CAT International of Beirut, which in turn provides technical and financial support as and when required.
Says Zoorob: “Since its inception, Barco has realised the importance of quality and continues to focus on it in all the projects that it has, and is undertaking. This aspect may have been one of the more important characteristics that prompted Ahmadiah  – which is not only the leaders but the masters of quality on all its prestigious projects – to choose Barco as its sub-contractor for the asphalt and road works on most, if not for all, its remarkable and impressive projects since the seventies.”
Barco has completed several projects for Ahmadiah, the more important ones being the Al Sharq Waterfront; the new Hilton Resort  at Mangaf; and the Waterfront Phase V – Salmiya, which is still in progress.
“It is Barco’s pleasure  to join Ahmadiah in celebrating its 50 years of success, devotion and trust,” he says.
