Leading finishing contractor Al Intisar Trading Company witnessed a significant increase in turnover last year – its 30th year of operations – and anticipates even better prospects for this year.

Turnover surged from $1.5 million in 2002 to $2 million last year and given the improving economic climate in Kuwait, Al Intisar expects further growth this year.
Since its inception in 1973, the company has been serving Kuwait’s construction industry as a contractor for all finishing as well as painting, waterproofing and renovation works. It deals in products from international firms such as Bailey  Metal Products (manufacturer of steel framing products for walls, floors and ceilings) of Canada, Danogips (gypsum plasterboard) of Denmark, Hewetson (access flooring) of the UK and Diacaustic (acoustic wall panels) of Switzerland.
“The market is competitive in our line of work but our commitment to quality and to meeting schedules and our highly personalised dedicated follow-up, gives us an edge over our rivals,’’ says Zuhair Al Husseini, technical director. ‘‘In fact, we are now rated as one of the three approved subcontractors for major projects in Kuwait.”
Al Intisar traces its ties with Ahmadiah right back to its inception and has worked closely with this contracting major on many of its projects since then.
It is currently working on a major commercial complex known as Al Awadi alongside Ahmadiah – the main contractor on the project – undertaking plastering, painting and cladding works and supplying and installing gypsum board partitions and ceilings as well as raised flooring. The project comprises a shopping mall and a 36-storey tower and Al Intisar’s work on it is worth $1 million.
Other Ahmadiah projects where the company is currently serving as subcontractor include the Fahaheel waterfront project, Al Manshar shopping mall in Fahaheel (renovation and expansion) and the Public Institute for Social Security (PIFSS) headquarters.
It has also recently completed work on Al Fanar and Al Bustan shopping malls, Al Jahra Market, Al Sharq waterfront, and Marina Mall at the waterfront in Salmiya.
Commenting on Al Intisar’s association with Ahmadiah, Husseini says: “Our relationship has always been professional, cordial and friendly, based on mutual trust. We always look forward to dealing with Ahmadiah because working with them is an enriching experience due to their professionalism.”
“We are ready to take on additional work for Ahmadiah anywhere in the region,” he adds.
Besides work for Ahmadiah, Al Intisar has recently completed contracts for false ceiling, partition and painting work at the  College of Health Sciences as well as the Industrial Training Institute, which together were worth $1.2 million.
While the company is not exploring any other markets in the region, it is open to opportunities presented elsewhere in the Gulf.
Al Intisar also did finishing works abroad for the Conference Centre in Ashkabat, Turkmenistan in 1996.
