Electrical products and systems giant Legrand has embarked on a GCC-wide road show aimed at familiarising contractors and electrical products retailers with the broad range of Legrand products and offering them hands-on training.
The road show, which kicks off this month at the Sofitel City Centre, Dubai, continues in April with stops in Abu Dhabi on April 21, followed by Doha on April 28, Muscat on May 3, and Kuwait City on June 23.
Among the items to be displayed at the exhibition are Legrand’s most popular products in the Middle East: the Milac, Model and Mosaic ranges of switches and sockets, the Plexo 55 range of weatherproof switches and sockets and Plexo weatherproof boxes, cable clip and cable ties, terminal strips, chimes, intercom systems and miniature circuit breakers.
The company, which achieved a 44 per cent growth in the UAE in 2003, is focused on increasing market trust in the brand and will push forward with this through greater customer interaction at various levels.
Legrand anticipates a 35 per cent growth in the GCC for the current year. Last year it achieved 20 per cent growth in the region. Legrand Group’s market share in the region is around 25 to 30 per cent.
Last year the company also received Golden Award for Export Worldwide.
“The potential in the regional market, especially in the construction sector, is unbelievable and we see our products increasingly meeting local demand,” says area manager Mohammed Ahmed-Yahia.
“To improve our market share and turnover, we will launch a major drive to improve brand awareness in retail market. The company has plans to tie-up with major retail outlets for a dedicated Legrand corner. We want to build a brand identity in this region,” he says.
Legrand established its Dubai office in Jebel Ali Free Zone in 1996. The office today oversees the company’s operations in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. In addition to this, the establishment of Legrand Customer Centres in the emirates and other parts of the GCC makes the company strategically placed to capitalise on the projected regional demand for electrical products and systems.
Legrand has also set up a Training and Information Department (TID) aimed to help improve the company’s role in the region as a solution provider.
Starting this month (March), the TID will conduct regular training session, in collaboration with its partners, in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City and Muscat for all the professionals in the electrical, IT and interior design fields.
The seminars will be held every month (excluding July and August) till the end of the year at different locations.
Legrand offers a total of 130,000 items, grouped into 80 product families. Its portfolio includes protection and isolation devices (ACBs, MCCBs and MCBs), modular equipment (timers, contractors, relays, terminal blocks, etc.), transformers and power supplies and the industrial ranges of plugs and sockets, including the P17 Tempra and Hypra ranges, enclosures equipment, such as Marina and Atlantic wall mounting enclosures and the free standing enclosures, the Legrand cable management solutions, weatherproof systems, including switches, sockets and boxes and control devices that enable remote management of any electrical functions.
Some of the Dubai projects Legrand has been associated or currently involved with include Murooj Complex, Dubai Marina, Novotel, Ibis (Dubai World Trade Centre hotel – all rooms are equipped with Legrand products) and the Knowledge Village. In Abu Dhabi the company has supplied its products to two Sheraton hotels (renovation projects).
