Notifier, the world's largest manufacturer of commercial fire alarm systems and part of Honeywell's Fire Systems Group, recently introduced Acclimate Plus, a new multi-criteria technology smoke detector which incorporates the enhanced capabilities of Notifier's Flash-Scan technology.

The US-based company says that Acclimate provides an optimum balance of stability and early warning to maximise fire detection while rejecting unwanted nuisance alarms. Flash-Scan technology allows Acclimate to respond to a broad range of fires at a faster speed, it adds.
Flash-Scan protocol groups and scans 10 devices at a time, significantly improving response time. By constantly monitoring its environment for temperature, smoke, electrical noise and air particulate levels, Notifier says. Acclimate can report an alarm within one second and turn on all outputs within two seconds. Acclimate's dual bi-colour LEDs flash green when normal and steady red on alarm.
Acclimate's dual-stage drift compensation feature reduces maintenance by notifying the control panel when dust build-up requires attention. Its smoke detection sensitivity increases with heat, eliminating the need to set sensitivity levels at the panel. Acclimate analyses feedback from thermal and photoelectric sensor interactions, an onboard microprocessor and advanced software, and automatically adjusts its detection parameters and alarm levels without user intervention, says Notifier.
Acclimate hosts a variety of unique features: sounder; relay and isolator bases; analogue intelligent design; separate head and base; standard tamper-proof base with age-resistant polymer housing; rotary address switches which are easy to read and set in demand, eliminating the need for binary charts or detector programmers, according to the company.
