Alp System ducts offer durability and high performance.

The Alp System has proved to be an ideal solution to the many problems arising from duct design and installation, says its Italy-based manufacturer Alp.

Developed in the early 1980s, the system gained immediate acceptance from design engineers and technicians, the company states.

''Air distribution systems have traditionally comprised heavy steel ductwork, with poor insulation and lacking hygiene guarantees. The Alp system has changed this,'' says a spokesman for the company.

Fabricated using Alp's special aluminium sandwich panels, which are completely self-extinguishing and totally chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and hydrocholorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-free, Alp System air ducts ensure silent and functional distribution of the air, while maintaining its temperature, purity and humidity level, he points out.

Thanks to their technical characteristics, these ducts may be used in all kinds of projects: offices, industries, commercial centres, airports, swimming pools, hotels and hospitals, as well as surgical and clean rooms.

Compared with the traditional steel ducts, Alp System air ducts present many advantages, according to the spokesman:

  • Better thermal insulation: the thermal conductivity values of Alp panels are superior to those of other products traditionally employed for air ducts insulation;

  • The double-wall Alp aluminium sandwich panel assures a total vapour barrier, allowing Alp System ducts to be installed outdoors without the need of additional cladding;

  • Better airtightness: the special technique used in fabricating Alp System ducts together with their unique connection method, carried out by means of patented profiles and flexible gaskets, assure an optimal airtightness of the plant, minimising the possibility of air emission;

  • Better air quality (total absence of rust); the use of aluminium, a non-toxic material with high resistance to corrosion, ensures the purity of the distributed air;

  • Light weight: weighing up to 10 times less than the traditional steel ducts, Alp System ducts make installation operations easier and reduce the production times considerably.

  • Durability: The success of the ALP System ducts can be attributed to their long life. Their characteristics of stability and immutability, both physical and dimensional, derive from the properties of the insulating foam produced by Alp in combination with the typical properties of aluminium. Air distribution plants made with the Alp System ducts can provide high performance for more than 20 years.

    ''No matter the size of the project or whether it is indoor or outdoors, the Alp System duct offers the ideal product. Alp System is the solution to any design and installation requirement for air-conditioning ducting,'' the spokesman concludes.
