Rivard trenching machines are suitable for all types of soil, from sand to basalt, and even granite, says its US-based manufacturer.
The machines are said to be especially suited to the mechanical laying of pipes for fibre optic cables, electrical and telephone cables and HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipes for water or gas supplies.
''With more than 25 years of experience as a specialist in the design and manufacture of trenching machines for civil engineering projects, Rivard possesses an outstanding knowledge of the market,'' says a company spokesman.
He continues: ''Rivard's machines are generally fitted with components used as standard around the world, making aftersales and maintenance services easier.
''For mechanical digging of cable trenches, drains and canals, Rivard offers a complete range of products including wheeled trenching machines between 150 and 500 hp and tracked machines between 150 and 300 hp. Three types of wheeled trenching machines and two types of tracked trenching machine are available.
''Rivard's machines are used by companies including Alcatel, Electricite de France, Gaz de France and British Gas. Several subcontractors for major telecommunications companies have purchased Rivard machines and, in the last two years, six machines have been sold in the US for mechanical trench digging for fibre optic cables.''
In order to develop its cutting edge technology, Rivard is looking for distributors in Europe, the Middle East and South America.
