Corus Kalzip Division is aiming at new markets in the Middle East for its Kalzip system - a complete building envelope solution which includes standing seam roofing, integrated facade systems and a wide range of complementary products and accessories.
The company is part of the Corus Group, a major metals company formed by a merger between Koninklijke Hoogovens NV based in Holland and British Steel.
Corus Kalzip recently completed the roofing on the Millennium Grandstand at the Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in Dubai. The company said the order for the design, supply and supervision of the roofing of the new grandstand was one of the most unusual it had worked on.
The grandstand featuring a shiny aluminium skin accommodates more than 5,000 spectators. The architects chose the Kalzip standing seam system for cladding the outside envelope of the grandstand.
About 8,000 sq m of Kalzip elements featuring maximum lengths of 28 m had to be produced on site. These panels were then preshaped with radii between 2.1 to 45 m in order to fit perfectly to the geometry of the roof.
The work was completed along with local cladding contractor Arabian Profile Company.
