Oman has unveiled the design and theme of its pavilion for the mega Expo 2020 Dubai event. The theme ‘Oman - Chances Throughout Ages’ will bring to life the sultanate’s story of national progress through an exploration of the healing, connecting and unifying power of frankincense.
The eye-catching design of the pavilion is inspired by Boswellia sacra, the tree from which the precious resin is harvested.
With an asymmetrical, flowing form that is reminiscent of the tree’s low, shade-giving branches, the structure appears to envelop and protect life, said the Expo 2020 organisers. Visitors to the pavilion will pass through five zones, depicting how frankincense contributed to Omani advancements in transportation, knowledge, manufacturing, sustainability and exploration.
Located in Expo’s Mobility Thematic District, the Oman Pavilion will showcase the country’s outward-looking nature, talent, expertise, innovative spirit and youthful population, as well as its valuable resources and stunning natural beauty.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has formally kick-started activities for construction of its pavilion at the Expo 2020 site, having recently signed a participation contract at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) in Abu Dhabi.
To be built on a plot measuring 3,449.9 sq m in the Opportunity District, the pavilion will be based on the ‘Emerging Pakistan’ theme, with representation from all provinces.
