RETURNING to Saudi Build yet again, German formwork systems leader Paschal-Werk G Maier will be showcasing its sophisticated products that are facilitating work on a diverse range of projects around the world.
Among those displayed will be the Trapezoidal Girder Formwork (TTR) which is described as the most sophisticated system for circular structures like tanks or reservoirs, according to a spokesman for Paschal.
Paschal will also present wall formwork Logo.3, adjustable columns formwork Grip and Modular/GE Universal Formwork. These formwork systems have continued to evolve and be upgraded. The Logo.3 formwork, for instance, will have new large-sized panels – measuring 270 by 340 cm and 135 by 340 cm – one panel for two formwork heights.
The TTK is a proven radius-adjustable trapezoidal girder formwork with a new edge profile. The individual formwork segments are no longer fastened together with keybolts but with a newly developed connecting clamp. This speeds up work considerably with the formwork on the construction site and has been tested on site and rendered safe.
Meanwhile, as demand for customised formwork around the world rises, Paschal will showcase how to offer the best technical solution (both in steel processing and timber) together with outstanding quality of workmanship.
Also on display will be the new PPL 10.0 software developed by Planitec, a member of the Paschal Group.
“For formwork planning with an integrated logistics solution, this package – based on 64-bit technology – is one of the most outstanding IT products available for the construction sector,” says the spokesman.
Other software solutions include the complex formwork planning programme Paschal Plan Pro (PPpro), and the rental module with Prental machinery card, for companies with rental services, based on the database solution from Infor.
Formwork from Paschal has been successfully utilised in several prominent projects in Saudi Arabia. Among its ongoing projects is Saudi Arabia’s largest sewage treatment plant in Madinah, a sprawling metropolis of 1.7 million residents. As a means to protect the environment, the city is building a sewage treatment plant for one million people which recycles waste water in three steps to a level of purity that permits the use of the water for agricultural irrigation. The estimated SR300-million ($80 million) project is being built by SysTech, which started earth-moving operations in January 2012. Work on the structure began on the 120,000-sq-m construction site in the following June. Commissioning is scheduled for August 2014.
New structures are being built in three construction phases. “Each will include two large activated sludge basins (98.50 by 56.70 m), equipped with six flow inversions over a span of 9 m to move the water volume. Large round basins with an outside diameter of 39.9 m, smaller round basins with an outside diameter of 33.6 m, and several conventional technical infrastructure buildings will be built adjacent to these,” says the spokesman.
Paschal’s Logo.3 wall formwork is being put to good use on this project and a rigging supervisor from Germany was flown down to instruct the crew on how to best use the formwork at the construction site.
In order to attain the formwork height of 9.05 m, two elements with a height of 3.4 m (at a width of 2.4 m) were installed, and two elements with a height of 2.4 m, but widths of 1.35 m and 0.9 m, were stacked on top of these in a sideways orientation.
“Set-up, assembly and implementation proved to be surprisingly straightforward, with the concrete face of equally high grade. Using these methods, the approximately 520 m of linear wall were completed to the customer’s full satisfaction,” explains the spokesman.
Meanwhile, Systech (Riyadh branch) also used Paschal formwork for the construction of 24 circular tanks for a wastewater treatment plant in 2011 in Dammam.
Headquartered in Germany, Paschal was founded in 1964 in Germany. It is an international specialist for concrete formwork, shoring systems, formwork planning software and related services and offers a comprehensive spectrum of services for concrete construction based on 49 years of experience.
These services range from the development and production of high-performance formwork and shoring systems to related software and customer support.
The spectrum of products offered by Paschal includes systems for modern wall, slab and support formwork, customised formwork, climbing and platform systems, support structures and bracings, as well as specialised software systems for planning, organisation and management in the concrete construction.
Paschal operates four branches and a service centre in Germany and 12 subsidiaries and international shareholdings. It has production facilities in Germany, Ukraine and Bahrain (Paschal Concrete Forms). The Bahrain office is also the hub for the GCC. It also has offices in Dubai (Paschal Emirates) and Abu Dhabi (Paschal Emirates) in the UAE and a scientific and technical office in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Paschal will be exhibiting at Stand 217-3, Hall Three, at Saudi Build.
