LIEBHERR has recently unveiled its new Mobilmix 2.5 mixing plant – a container-designed system that is described as being ideal for mobile transport to and on larger construction sites such as airports and bridges, tunnels or highways.
The Mobilmix 2.5 supplies a maximum of 110 cu m compacted concrete per hour. Its integral DW 2.5 twin mixer is from Liebherr’s successful mixer systems programme.
“The main components of the Mobilmix 2.5 are housed in strongly constructed containers designed for extremely easy assembly,” says a spokesman for the Germany-headquartered manufacturer. “All modules are provided with plug-in connections, so that the complete plant can be prepared for operation in just a few days. The container modules can be installed on steel foundations, thus avoiding the need for elaborate concrete foundation work. Templates in various colours are supplied to ensure that the steel foundations can be erected quickly and accurately.”
When assembled, the container modules form a complete weather-protecting housing. For extreme climatic conditions, a version with additional insulation can be supplied. All areas of the plant have catwalks and stairs to make them easily accessible.
If necessary, the Mobilmix 2.5 can be operated as a twin unit. Both sections of the mixing plant can then be operated from a single control point. The mixers run alternately, and in this operating mode output can be raised to approximately 220 cu m of compacted concrete per hour.
As for all Liebherr mixing plant, there are numerous options for the Mobilmix 2.5, aimed at matching it as closely as possible to customers’ individual requirements. Extensions to the plant can, for example, include additive weighers, high-pressure mixer cleaning, dust filter systems or water tanks.
A number of Mobilmix 2.5 mixing plants are already being operated successfully. In Germany, for example, a Mobilmix 2.5 is in use supplying concrete on site for the construction of the Scheibengipfel Tunnel near Reutlingen, South Germany, which is more than 1,900 m long.
With its wide range of mixing plants and truck mixers, Liebherr can provide the right solution for economical production and transport of high-quality concrete. Further products for use in concrete production, including conveyor belts for truck mixers, concrete pumps and plant control or moisture measuring systems, round off the product programme.
Concrete pumps
Meanwhile, the company has completely revised its truck-mounted concrete pump 47 M5 XXT, which now offers additional advantages to provide enhanced customer value. In particular, in-house development and optimisation of the boom stood at the forefront of this revision.

The new 47-m, five-section multi-fold distributor boom is extremely torsionally-resistant, ensuring that vibrations are reduced to an absolute minimum when unfolding the boom on the building site, the spokesman points out. To ensure a balanced weight distribution, the concrete pipeline is configured close to the boom on both the left and right hand sides. Minimal pressure loss over the entire length of the distributor boom is guaranteed by the pipe bend in the concrete pipeline featuring a radius of 275 mm.
“Patent protected, and therefore the only one of its kind available on the market, Liebherr’s XXT narrow support is low torsion and extremely robust,” the spokesman says.
Another truck-mounted concrete pump offered by Liebherr is the 41 M5 XXT with patented XXT outriggers.
The 41 M5 XXT is extremely compact, with a short wheelbase but without excessive distributor-boom overhang, and is equipped with the THP 140H high-performance pump unit.
Liebherr’s “narrow” support has a single horizontal telescoping movement at the front, and can be swung to the side, whereupon the telescoping element for the front support is partially concealed in a cutout in the rear support. In the XXT support version, the long rear swing-out base is attached to the same pivot point on the boom mounting as the front outrigger base pivot point. This outrigger version is extremely stable and torsionally rigid.
