
OMAN will spotlight its growing infrastructure potential at an exhibition to be held in Muscat this month (October 2 to 4).
Infra Oman 2012, now in its second edition, will take place at the Oman International Exhibition Centre on an area of 5,000 sq m. More than 150 exhibitors, with 80 per cent comprising foreign participants, are expected to take part. “The expo will put the spotlight on Oman’s new five-year spending plan (2011-2015),” said Salim Omar Al Hashmi, CEO of Al Nimr Expo, the organiser.
“The new plan foresees $78 billion of expenditure, representing a 113 per cent increase over the last Five-Year Plan. Some of the major infrastructure projects include the Oman National Railway, Port Sultan Qaboos’ redevelopment into a full-fledged tourism port, Duqm development projects, medical cities, transport and airport development projects tourism and residential projects,” he added.
The event will feature new pavilions from Spain, the UK, South Africa and Italy along with a host of other local and international exhibitors.
