PROCEQ of Switzerland has extended its successful portfolio of portable instruments for the non-destructive testing of concrete quality with the recent launch of the Resipod surface resistivity meter.
Concrete surface resistivity testing is completely non-destructive, simple to perform and yet is one of the most versatile test methods for on-site evaluation of concrete, according to a spokesman for Proceq.
“Information can be obtained about the likelihood of corrosion, the corrosion rate, and the curing efficiency. The instrument can even be used to predict the durability of a structure,” he says.
Apart from these traditional applications, the Resipod incorporates the necessary features required for a new Aashto (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) standard test method for estimating the permeability of hardened concrete by means of a surface resistivity measurement.
This test method, which requires only a few minutes to perform, is intended to replace laborious laboratory methods such as the bulk diffusion test and the rapid chloride penetration test.
Available in two versions with industry standard 50-mm (1.9 inches) contact spacing and 38-mm (1.5 inches) contact spacing, the Resipod has a number of unique features, says the spokesman. “It is the most accurate surface resistivity meter available,” he says. “It is the only fully integrated four-point Wenner probe on the market with on-board memory and a USB connection to a PC. It is supported by Resipod Link software, making analysis of the results simple. The standard probes can be removed to allow the user to attach custom probe configurations or a variable spaced probe.”
The software allows the setting of the probe width, as required. The instrument is supplied with a robust carrying case, a test block, and product documentation. An extension cable is available as an accessory to allow variable probe spacing, or user probes to be attached to suit specific applications.
As with all Proceq products, sales and full service support is available from the company’s global locations in Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Russia.
The Resipod comes with a 24-month warranty on all electronic parts. When purchasing the instrument, the buyer is also offered the possibility to purchase extended warranty coverage.
Founded in 1954, Proceq is a leading manufacturer of high-quality portable test equipment for concrete properties, metal hardness and paper hardness applications.
The company’s strong research and development team continues to create products that set industry standards for portable test equipment. The company invented the Original Schmidt Concrete hammer, the world’s first and most widely-used portable test equipment for concrete strength properties.
Since 1994, Proceq has been certified to ISO 9001 standards that guarantee the quality of processes, products and services. To provide its international customers with local support, Proceq continually increases its presence through worldwide subsidiaries and through a global network of agents and partners.
For its customers in the Middle East, the company has a subsidiary – Proceq Middle East – based at the Sharjah Airport International Free (Saif) Zone.
