A Princess is born

Princess Tower ... the tallest residential building in the world.

THE landmark Princess Tower in Dubai now stakes claim to being the tallest residential tower, having reached its final height of 414 m with the completion of its dome and mast.

The development is one of two Tameer Holding projects that are in the final stages of completion in the prestigious Dubai Marina area – the other being the Elite Residence. Arabian Construction Company is the main contractor for both these projects, where interior works are currently in progress.

Being constructed on a 37,410-sq-ft plot, the striking Princess Tower stands at 107 storeys and encompasses six basement levels, a ground floor and 100 upper levels. Construction work on the tower is expected to be completed in June.

Commenting on the recent completion of the dome and mast structure, Federico Tauber, president of Tameer, says: “In a city of skyscrapers, it is still extremely satisfying to have completed yet another record-breaking project. Princess Tower is now the tallest residential building in the entire world and its excellent location, distinctive presence and iconic status as a residential super-high-rise makes it a very prestigious and sought-after address to live in.”

Designed by Adnan Z Saffarini, the tower boasts a distinctive dome topped off by the decorative mast weighing 110 tonnes of steel and aluminium.

With a total built-up area of 1.75 million sq ft, Princess Tower houses 763 luxury apartments, including one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments plus four and five-bedroom penthouses, which have spectacular views over The Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf.

Located in close proximity to other prominent projects such as The Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah, Princess Tower features high-quality finishes and well-designed interiors.

Some of the facilities that residents of Princess Tower can avail of are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fully-equipped gymnasiums, billiard and table tennis rooms, children’s play area, sauna rooms, a car-park accommodating 957 vehicles and a luxurious reception area.

The building will also have eight commercial retail outlets at the ground level, while Level 97 will provide a full-floor function area and recreational facilities to the residents.

Residents will be provided with private parking, and enjoy easy access to public transport with close proximity to the Dubai metro, as well as several leading shopping facilities such as Marina Mall and Mall of the Emirates. The upcoming Al Sufouh Tramway, will also pass directly by Princess Tower.

Elite Residence

Meanwhile, the Dh1.7-billion ($463 million) Elite Residence – which has also been designed by Adnan Z Saffarini – is a 381-m-high development encompassing 91 levels, including four basement levels, ground plus 86 floors. The building has a unique design combining classic architecture with a modern layout and stylish finishes. The tower includes sports and recreation facilities including a fully-equipped gymnasium, sauna and steam rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a multi-function room and indoor and outdoor children’s play areas.

The project offers spacious one and two-bedroom apartments, and three and four-bedroom penthouses and with a total of 697 apartments, it will be home to around 1,500 residents. The development also features three retail outlets and parking space for 788 vehicles.

“Every apartment in Elite Residence has been built to world-class design and construction. Using high-quality materials and fixtures, each apartment combines sophistication, space efficacy and contemporary designs to create an environment that’s ideal for a modern, fast-paced lifestyle,” says Tauber.

Other projects

Tameer Holding Investment is a leading property developer in the Middle East. Last December, the company marked the completion of its 31-storey Silver Tower project in Business Bay, Dubai’s latest commercial and business hub.

Elite Residence ... also designed by Adnan Z Saffarini.

With its strategic location by the waterfront, and within walking distance to the Business Bay metro station, Silver Tower provides multiple commuting routes on Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

Every floor of this office tower has panoramic views of both the lake and the city. A total of 27 floors of the building contain individually created offices.

The exterior façade of the tower combines silver aluminium with ultra-chic executive grey glass architecture, while the interior is designed to make optimum use of space and light where every detail has been carefully planned, according to the developer.

Silver Tower is a premium freehold commercial property with a total built-up area of around 700,000 sq ft, featuring shell-and-core offices, 786 parking spaces, a cafeteria, shaded seating area, community podium deck, six high-speed elevators, retail space and commercial outlets.

Tameer’s other recently-completed projects in Dubai include Al Jawzaa in the heart of International City Phase Three, and Palace Towers near Dubai Silicon Oasis and the neighbouring Academic City.

Meanwhile, Tameer now intends to resume work on the Tameer Towers at Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. The developer issued tender documents for the project in February, with a contract award anticipated by the end of this month.

To date, 21 per cent completion has been achieved on the development, with towers A and B having reached structural levels 13 and four, respectively. With work expected to commence next month (May), Phase A of the development is targeted for completion by the fourth quarter of 2013.
