Dornbracht’s Deque ... unique water delivery method.

DORNBRACHT, a manufacturer of high-quality designer fittings and accessories for bathrooms and kitchens, has announced the arrival of the low, basin-hugging fitting Deque in the Middle East.

An architectural statement, the new fitting is characterised by the strong pared down aesthetic of its flat, wide projection. The design is by Sieger Design and the Deque bath architecture is by Mike Meire. Deque comes in chrome and matte black finishes.

What makes Deque special is its unique flow style that presents water as the focal point of the design. The flow of water takes on the width of the outlet like a soft cascading sheet from the fixture. With Deque, Dornbracht has succeeded in meeting its design criteria, namely perfection, precision, conciseness and proportionality, according to managing director Andreas Dornbracht.

“Deque represents the progression of the Dornbracht brand in avant-garde design,” says Dornbracht. “The special types of streams that we have developed for this fitting set a deliberate contrast to its formal severity and perfection.”

Deque’s contrasts stand out, the juxtaposition of the gentle flow of water with the severity of the fitting’s form and the contrast of its planar projection and cylindrical control elements – a form that is particularly evident in the single-lever mixer. In combination with the two types of streams (the cascade of water and the gentle individual streams), this association marks the basis for designing Deque’s surroundings.

“The architecture unites the tremendous precision and geometry of the fitting with landscape architecture. The result is a sculpture comprising the fitting as a water-shaping source and the architecture as a water-structuring form,” explains Mike Meire, who is responsible for the architecture of the Deque sculpture.

In addition to its sculpture, four individual applications have also been designed for Deque, each showing a combination of outlets and a landscape element. The applications vary in size, yet exhibit a consistent architectural signature and material aesthetic, providing architects, planners and principals with inspiration for individual bathroom planning:

A spacious, light bathroom as a central living point: Linear, interconnected elements and natural materials define the spatial and lighting mood of this application. In continuation of the Deque sculpture, matte surfaces contrast with glass panes and mirrors. An external basin functions as an almost seamless transition between interior and exterior as an optical continuation of the bathtub. In this application, the Deque wash stand flush-mounted fitting with individual rosettes, and the Deque bathtub stand flow spout, both with natural, wavelike water jets are the fittings of choice.

A modern, purist bathroom with clear geometry: Luxury mosaic tiles in three coordinating, earthen colours are reminiscent of the soothing colour palette of nature for this setting. Deque’s single-lever fixture with the new pearl stream flow with separate jets on the wash stand and the JustRain with xTool thermostat module in the shower are the fixtures of choice for this example.

A masculine, minimalist, free-standing bath: High-quality walnut and exposed concrete encase a calm, stylish world of this application. The exposed concrete wall gives the appearance of exterior space, creating a seamless transition to the outside. The Deque single-lever fixture with pearl stream on the wash stand and the Deque bathtub flow spout with natural, wavelike water jets are suited for this environment.

A light, feminine bath: The contrast between matte and polished surfaces is characteristic here with fabric panels adorning the walls and a rear bathtub wall of frosted glass on which the Deque fixtures are mounted. Fabric panels and rear wall are in keeping with the fixture’s formal geometry. The bathtub could also be placed in the living space, removed from the usual bath areas. Deque bathtub-wall wave flow spout and natural, wavelike water jet are the highlight of this application.
