The Big 5

Good track record

RECKLI Arabia will be making its debut at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia this month to promote a wide range of products.
Among many key products that will be on display at Reckli Arabia’s stand will be the new-generation Reckli photo-engraving formliners, concrete surface retarders and surface protection products.

“We will be at the show to tap additional markets and further popularise our products in the region and beyond,” says Javed Raja, general manager of Reckli Arabia.

The Reckli formliners system has a proven track record of more than 42 years of application throughout the world, he says.

“Within Reckli’s standard programme, we have more than 250 different patterns available in Germany,” says Raja.

Besides this wide range, the company can also manufacture in Saudi Arabia special moulds to suit its clients’ own designs and this includes logos for boundary walls and special designs for GRC (glass reinforced concrete) decorative elements.

Reckli imports bulk quantities of materials from Germany on a monthly basis. This enables it to sell to Saudi and Bahraini customers at the same rate as ex-Germany prices. “It also means that customers do not have to maintain large stocks, which is important for materials that have a six-month shelf life,” says Raja, adding that materials are stored in air-conditioned stores and the company does not have a minimum order quantity.

Reckli Arabia supplies polyurethane liquid rubber (available in various shore hardnesses), silicones, release agents and epoxy to all major gypsum, GRC and precast concrete factories for making flexible moulds.

“The advantages of Reckli are that it allows intricate designs to be produced, it does not shrink, and it has a long life span. Reckli rubber moulds are good for over 100 uses if used in accordance with the guidelines provided by manufacturers,” he points out.

Elaborating on the products that will be on display at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia, Raja says the new generation of Reckli photo-engraving formliners expands the applications of these products to unsurpassed levels. The combination of the Reckli system and the worldwide patent photo-engraving technology creates a surface pattern, which can vary from fine to coarse depending on the resolution of the image used. This image can then be incorporated on to the finished concrete surface by using the Reckli formliner system.

The photo-engraving process is a computer-based method for transferring image data onto sheet materials by means of milling technology. “First an image template is scanned and converted into 256 grey scales. In order to transfer the image onto the sheet material, a machining file is generated from the identified grey values, whereby the file includes milling commands for a special CNC milling machine,” he explains. “The milled model is used as a master for casting the elastic Reckli formliners. Their elasticity, quality and reusability contribute to the aesthetics and the economic efficiency of the whole process and make it possible to recreate the image on to the concrete surface.

“The applications are almost unlimited because almost any image in standard graphic formats can be used. The templates are scalable, which allows the production of photo-engraving in any size. The maximum size of a sheet is 4 m by 1.9 m, but a number of partial images can be joined together to form one complete image.”

Reckli concrete surface retarders are an ideal solution for the production of washed concrete surfaces (facades, covers, noise protection walls, gardening furniture and concrete items, among other products). “However, they are especially suitable for architectural concrete and complicated elements that are often produced under difficult conditions,” Raja says.

The retarders are applied to the mould surface with roller or spray, and left to dry for 15 to 30 minutes before the concrete is added. After the concrete is cured, the concrete element is removed from the mould and washed with high-pressure water jet to expose the surface.

Reckli also provides a full range of products for surface protection of concrete and GRC. Surface protection systems are used to provide protection against moisture penetration and chemical actions on precast concrete facades, cast stone structures, terrazzo floors and in bridges and tunnel construction.

As a subsidiary of its parent company  Reckli in Germany, Reckli Arabia looks after Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It offers its customer full technical on site support, through its highly-trained technical staff.

The company will be present at Stand D41, German Pavilion at The Big 5 Saudi Arabia.
