JANADA, a newcomer on the Bahrain construction market, has worked its way to become one of the largest suppliers of lightweight blocks in the country while rapidly expanding its portfolio and services for the sector.
The company, which took off last January, is catering to orders from a large number of clients either directly or through other suppliers, with monthly orders exceeding BD100,000 ($264,550).
“We launched our construction business through supplying lightweight blocks and cement and have now expanded to red bricks and ceramics, and marble and other stone,” says Mohamed Gaballa, managing director, adding that the company is now moving towards other building material products.
The lightweight blocks, from Zamil-Acico of Saudi Arabia, offer the advantages of thermal and acoustic insulation, helping reduce energy consumption by up to 40 per cent, while being moisture and fire-resistant, he states.
Janada also entered the field of security and time management as well as interior design late last year – and has already clinched a project which entails provision of a complete security solution including fire detection and face recognition through the use of CCTV (close circuit television).
“We hope to add new products to our portfolio, and have already started to look at steel products, electrical control panels and many others,” he says.
Surprisingly, Janada started business at a time when some companies were experiencing a rough time after the financial downturn. But Gaballa says they were fortunate to have picked the right time for the launch and hope to continue to ride a growth wave for a better future.
Based on that growth, the company has expanded by renting two warehouses for building products such as lightweight blocks, adhesives, cement, ceramics, and marble. It is also establishing a showroom for the products it distributes.
Commenting on the Bahrain market, he says it seems to have grown in the past year. “And although some construction projects did stop for lack of funds but overall, improvements can be noticed,” he says.
“Besides, the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar should hopefully create more potential for business in Bahrain with the completion of the Bahrain-Qatar bridge,” he adds.
Janada is a group of companies that includes businesses in the domains of building materials, security, information technology, safety, medical, interior design, web design and corporate gifts. It employs 15 people at its main office in Bu Ghazal.
“We are a young and creative organisation. We are here to help in the growth and future of Bahrain and provide the services that everyone is looking for,” Gaballa concludes.
