The new Titan 173 wheeled model ... setting new performance standards.

Ingersoll-Rand (IR) ABG has added three new models to its Titan range of paver finishers.

These include the new Titan 525 paver, a top-of-the-range model offering paving widths up to 16 m, and two new small pavers, the Titan 135 tracked paver and the Titan 173 wheeled paver for varying paving widths from 1.75 to 4 m.

"All the new models combine well-proven paver engineering with state-of-the-art technology and set new performance standards for the paving industry," says a spokesman for the company.

He continues: ''Based on over 30 years experience in designing and manufacturing pavers with paving widths of 12 m and more, the new Titan 525 model replaces the previous 511 paver.

''As well as paving widths up to 16 m, the Titan 525 offers paving thicknesses of up to 0.5 m, speeds up to 60 m/min and a theoretical laydown rate of up to 1,500 tonnes/hour.

''Equipped with an innovative EPM (electronic paver management) system and offering an engine output of 211 kW, there is virtually no restriction to the applications for the paver.

''The EPM features a serial CAN-Bus system and a central control computer. Commands are entered into the computer using the operating keys on the plastic covered control panel, which also features a graphical display that clearly indicates the paving and operating data.

''An easy-to-use help program leads the operator step by step through the control menu. The modular design of the EPM also allows the system to be easily extended to carry out further functions in the future.

''The heavy-duty paver can be fitted with either single or double tamper screeds and, combined with the ABG screed vibration system, offers a floating screed that can successfully pave all kinds of paving materials.

''Double tampers strike off and proportion the paving material in front of the screed system, to leave an excellent surface evenness and uniform precompaction. This is particularly important when paving materials that are difficult to compact, as double tamper screeds offer exceptionally high compaction performance, thus reducing the number of roller passes required to achieve the specified compaction.''

The Titan 135 and 173 wheeled models extend Ingersoll-Rand's range of small pavers. They have been specially designed for laying all kinds of asphalt mixes, cement treated aggregates, sand and gravel in varying widths.

"The new models are unique among pavers of this size owing to their comprehensive range of standard accessories and their outstanding paving performance,'' says the spokesman.

''Two obvious advantages are their exceptionally low noise level of £ 80 dBA measured at the operator's ear as well as the very low fuel consumption of the liquid-cooled diesel engine.

''A special feature on both models is that the augers and conveyors are reversible and the Titan 173 wheeled paver is equipped with front-wheel assist.

''The paving speed of both models is variable from 0 to 20 m/min and with its very high transport speed of up to 4.7 km/h, the Titan 135 paver can be quickly transported under its own power from one job site to the other.

''The new small pavers meet the full range of paving requirements from urban and rural roads to paving cycle tracks and footpaths, industrial areas, parking lots and access roads.

''Equipped with hydraulically variable screeds, the Titan 135 and 173 pavers are ideally suited for the frequently changing paving widths on road repair contracts.

''Two hydraulically extendible screed extensions mounted on each side of the basic screed allow the paving width on both pavers to be adjusted from 1.75 m up to 4.00 m without having to fit additional extensions.

''If auger extensions are required for a particular paving width, then they can be quickly fitted without using additional tools. It is also an easy job to adjust the height of the hydraulic screed extensions from 10 mm up to 150 mm across the entire paving width.

''The speed of the conveyor system is pre-selected with potentiometers and high laydown rates of up to 200 tonnes/hour can be achieved owing to the well-dimensioned mix conveyor system and large conveyor tunnel. The large material hopper with a capacity of 7.5 tonnes ensures that the pavers can be easily charged by large volume rear-tipping dumptrucks.

''The Titan 135 and 173 pavers feature a comfortable, revolving and adjustable operator's seat and all operating controls are neatly grouped on the control panel within easy reach of the operator. The operating symbols are easily understood which enhances working safety. Four working lights for night paving are included in the pavers' standard range of supply.''
