
United Gulf Construction Company (UGCC), a leading player in the region, said it has completed all the major development works on its contract at Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City, a 6.4-million-sq-m waterside residential project, in Kuwait.
The massive project, which is estimated to cost $5 billion, is being developed by La’ala Al Kuwait Real Estate Company at Khiran, about 85 km south of capital, Kuwait City.
Masterplanned by UK firm Buro Happold, the Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City project kicked off in 2002 and is eventually expected to accommodate around 100,000 people on completion of all phases.
As the main contractor, UGCC said it has constructed buildings with a total built-up area of 610,138 sq m besides the complete infrastructure for the project including roads, power substations and mosques and schools.
The work also saw UGCC undertake 10 million cu m of bulk earthworks and 400,000 cu m of concrete for the projects from its plants erected at the project site.-TradeArabia News Service
