WEG, a leading manufacturer of electric motors, gearbox and variable frequency drives, will be showcasing its latest automation technology for lifts at the Elevator Show in Dubai to be held from September 16 to 18.
At the event, the company will demonstrate how variable speed drives (VSD) with advanced algorithms and communication capabilities can make lifts safer, more comfortable and sustainable.
The innovative models to be showcased includes its ADL500 range which comprises the ADL510 version, ideal for asynchronous motors in low-rise buildings in either open or closed loop control.
The ADL530 - for medium-rise applications - is designed for both asynchronous and synchronous motors and comes with features including on-board universal encoder interface and improved communication.
Visitors to WEG’s stand will get to witness the ADL550 drive - the flagship product in the ADL500 range.
This VSD introduces pioneering functionalities like Safe Torque Off SIL3, Safe Brake Test (SBT), and the Safe Brake Control (SBC – SIL3) with EBC500 accessory. These features enable the control and monitoring of motor brake status to avoid any unintentional movement.
According to WEG, tall buildings are multiplying, with a record 177 above-200-m structures completed in 2023. This trend combines with the need to decarbonise the built environment - a leading source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Lifts, the primary transportation mode in tall buildings, must rise to the challenge by enhancing safety, energy efficiency and passenger comfort. The expanded ADL500 drive range from WEG enables lifts to achieve these goals, it stated.
"Combining growth with sustainability is critical to meeting today’s most pressing challenges, including population growth, urbanisation and climate change. Expanding residential and commercial facilities while maximising energy efficiency, safety and occupant wellbeing is essential to achieving this goal," remarked Reinaldo Stuart Junior, the Director at WEG Automation Europe.
"Lifts are the lifeblood of buildings of all shapes and sizes; ensuring they run safely and efficiently — while optimising passenger comfort — is paramount, which is where WEG’s ADL500 range can help," he added.
WEG said from a comfort point of view, the ADL500 range integrates a series of functions that allow passengers to move comfortably in any type of building.
From the anti-rollback function at departure and arrival at the floor to the enhanced Elevator Position Control (EPC), the ADL550 ensures precise floor levelling even in the most demanding environments. The series also comes with energy-saving features including the combination with Active Front End Power Supply unit even for small elevators, stand-by function and energy peak shaving, it stated.
According to WEG, seamless communication is another strong point of the ADL500 range. At the Elevator Show, WEG will showcase the dedicated WEG Liftouch free application for Android, IOS, and Windows platforms.
This app allows operations like start-up, monitoring, tuning and alarm check either on site, via Wi-Fi, or remotely via WEG Drives RMS (Remote Management System), it added.-TradeArabia News Service
