Electro Mechanical Company Qatar (QEMC) has announced that it has secured a significant electrical works subcontract for Qatar's North Field East (NFE) expansion project, which is currently the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the world.

Announcing the contract win, QEMC said the project, led by China National Chemical Engineering Company (Eleco) with Spanish EPC services expert Technicas Reunidas as the main contractor, reinforces its position as a leading player in the electro-mechanical contracting industry.

The contract encompasses a diverse range of electrical works, showcasing QEMC’s expertise and commitment to excellence in the energy sector.

As a trusted subcontractor, QEMC will contribute its specialized skills to ensure the successful completion of the NFE project, adhering to the highest industry standards, it stated.

Qatar Petroleum had in 2022 signed up top Spanish EPC energy contractor Técnicas Reunidas for the NFE project.

Under this, the company is responsible for the expansion of existing liquid products (condensate, propane and butane) storage and loading facilities and the expansion of import facilities for Mono-Ethylene Glycol within Ras Laffan Industrial City, as well as other ancillary facilities and pipelines serving the North Field Expansion Project.

These new facilities will be utilised to handle liquid products from the four new LNG trains comprising the NFE project, which is scheduled to start-up before the end of 2025. The facilities will also support two new LNG trains comprising the North Field South (NFS) project.-TradeArabia News Service
