Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, has floated tenders worth RO68.6 million ($177.7 million) for the second phase of Al Sharqiya Expressway Project, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Tender Board.
 
The Al Sharqiya Expressway Project, (Part Two, second phase) will run 52 km long and aims to connect the states of the North and South Al Sharqiyah governorates, reported ONA.
 
The project scope includes raising the efficiency of the current road and converting it into a dual carriageway consisting of three lanes, starting from the Wilayat of Al Kamil all the way to the Wilayat of Sur.
 
It will also see conversion of Bilad Sur to Sur Plaza intersection into a two-lane dual carriageway with a length of about 3 kilometers.
 
The announcement was made at the first meeting of Tender Board of Oman this year, held under the supervision of Dr Mansoor Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), and Deputy Chairman of the Tender Board, said the ONA report.
 
During the meeting, tenders worth RO97.2 million ($252 million) were awarded for the execution of development projects’ additional works, it added.
