ATLAS Copco claims a world first with the launch of its SB 702 high-performance hydraulic breaker, which is said to be the only breaker in the 700 kg class with a solid body.
The SB 702 makes light work of a wide range of gardening, landscaping, construction and demolition jobs.
“Intensive research, innovative product design and Atlas Copco’s know-how in the field of breaker technology, has resulted in lower fuel consumption, lower vibrations and less noise,” says a company spokesman.
A one-piece housing construction makes the SB 702 unusually compact and easy to handle. The percussion mechanism and guide system are integrated into a single block of steel, eliminating the need for side bolts. The integrated, maintenance-free accumulator is easily accessible yet well-protected from bangs and knocks, he says.
The SB 702 works with a wide oil flow range and can, therefore, be installed on a broad variety of carriers. In case of hydraulic overload, the SB 702 is protected by an integrated protection valve, which prevents damage to the breaker and helps avoid downtime.
“Easy to set up and always ready for action, the breaker requires very little maintenance and when it needs attention, it’s easy to service,” says the spokesman. “Double tool retainer bars minimise stress and wear on the working tools. Changing the working tools is easy, thanks to the patented retainer bar lock system, and the floating lower bushing can be replaced by the operator on-site with standard hand tools.”
Thanks to energy recovery, the SB 702 provides much higher percussive performance. While the impact energy remains constant, the breaker increases the blow frequency, which increases percussive performance. This, in turn, increases efficiency, which enables higher productivity with lower fuel consumption, he points out. Energy recovery also helps to absorb recoil, which means less wear and tear on the carrier and a higher level of comfort for the operator.
MB range
Earlier this year, the company expanded its medium hydraulic breakers with a new variant – MB Essential range – in a bid to meet segmented market demands.
The new range is focused on the essential: high performance, low weight, and essential features for efficient work, says the spokesman.
“The idea is simple: breaker features are reduced to the essential to manage their daily targets. The new range comes without ContiLube Two and the noise protection kit,” says the spokesman. “What’s not reduced is the high impact power and the very good power-to-weight ratio. Due to the design and configuration, MB Essential breakers are powerful tools that do nothing else but their job. Regular service and maintenance can be easily done on site.”
The power-to-weight ratio and the efficiency of Atlas Copco’s latest generation of medium hydraulic breakers have been significantly increased, compared to their predecessors. Due to lower weight and higher efficiency, less hydraulic input power is required from the carrier while maintaining maximum impact performance. This allows smaller carriers to be used, which results in lower investment cost for the carrier.
“The MB Essential breakers are designed to get tough and hard jobs done – a genuine tool designed for millions of blows under harsh conditions in the quarrying, demolition, renovation and construction industry,” the spokesman concludes.
Atlas Copco is an industrial group that enjoys a leadership position in compressors, expanders and air treatment systems, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems. With innovative products and services, the Sweden-based company, which delivers solutions for sustainable productivity, has a global reach spanning more than 170 countries.
