More than BD3.7 million ($9.8 million) worth of beautification projects for Bahrain’s capital Manama have been approved.

The projects include the building of a new park, renovation of the historic Water Garden and a BD1 million facelift to the Manama Central Market.
The projects given the green light by the Manama Municipal Council also include the rehabilitation of two other smaller parks, the King Faisal Corniche and the eastern seashore, which includes the corniche near the Marina Club.
Mishal Garden off Exhibition Avenue, which used to house the Mishal Coffee Shop until a year ago, will be turned into a public park at a cost of BD500,000, said councillor Sadiq Ahmed Ali Rahma.
Work on the project is expected to be completed by September.
