Hassan Abul Company has supplied a variety of marble tiles for the project.

Hassan Abul Company completed the installation of a total of 32 kitchens – fitted with electrical appliances – kitchen units that were manufactured at its own woodworks factory at the prestigious Dar Al Awadi project last month.

These units were among an array of products that this diversified Kuwaiti trading and manufacturing firm supplied to the landmark development.
“Besides kitchens, we supplied an extensive range of ceramic tiles, sanitary ware and accessories and marble for the project,” says Mohammed Boushehri, manager, projects.
Earlier this year, the company completed the order to supply a variety of marble tiles – 8,125 sq m in total – used for the internal flooring in the building.  The marble – imported from Italy (Botticino Classico, Ross Rubino, Nero Impala and Statuario white), Spain (Maroon Imperial) and Pakistan (Indus Gold) – was processed at its marble factory in Kuwait,
The ceramic tiles and sanitary ware were supplied by the company’s trading division included an assortment of floor, wall and skirting tiles from leading international manufacturers including Villeroy & Boch of Germany, H&R Johnson of the UK provided for the tower, mall and service areas of the project.  Sanitary ware came from Villeroy & Boch while fittings were from Geberit (Switzerland) and Blanco, Kistenmacher, Hansgrohe and Dal Grohe (Germany).
Hassan Abul Company was established in 1959 as a small showroom in the Al-Sief Street in Kuwait City. Since its inception, it has grown considerably and today the company’s business is divided under two divisions –the trading operation which offers sanitary ware, toilet accessories, ceramic tiles, glass blocks, and kitchens appliances and the second division, which deals in high-end products and also includes marble, aluminium, wood, ceramic and coatings factories.
“Having established a niche in the market as a specialist supplier of a range of internal building materials that include ceramic, marble, kitchen accessories and sanitary ware, the company diversified into external building materials with the introduction of aluminium, wood, glass, and coating products last year,” Boushehri says.
The firm, which has been working towards achieving greater customer satisfaction through improving the quality of its products and services, sources its materials from around the world – but primarily from the European markets.
“The raw materials used in the aluminum factory are sourced from Germany and similarly the materials used in the wood factory come from Italy,” he adds.
Today, Hassan Abul Company boasts a 1,500-employee-strong workforce that helps achieve an average annual turnover of $75 million. Over the decades, the firm has increased its presence in Kuwait through the establishment of five additional outlets situated at Hawalli (main showroom); Al Shuwaikh (two showrooms); Al Rai (showroom at Ghazali Street) and a new special high-end product showroom at Al Rai, which is under construction, Boushehri says.
In addition, the firm has recently spread its reach overseas through the opening of two branches in the Gulf area – one in Dubai and the other in Doha, Qatar.
Coatings factory
The coating factory, which was launched last year as part of the company’s diversification into external products, designs and manufactures different kinds of finishes such as stucco, fresco, lime wash, or traditional naturally-coloured products.
The factory was set up to manufacture all kinds of lime-based products that range from lime plaster, renovation and finishing products. Of these, raw materials for the first two are imported from Strasservil Company – a member of Lhoist group-Belgium, considered to be the largest lime manufacturing company in the world.
The facility achieved an output of 5 to 10 tonnes per day depending on the colour requirements in its first production year and has set a yearly sales target of 500,000 sq m to cover both the domestic as well as the GCC market.
“With consultants and engineers switching over to lime-based exterior finishes, we aim to create and provide different varieties of lime-based solutions for all kinds of external and internal facades,” says Boushehri.

Marble enhances lift lobbies.

Marble
As part of its expansion plan, Hassan Abul Company is now building a new marble plant – due to open in the fourth-quarter of this year – to meet the growth in demand for marble.
It has also installed high-tech machines that will help the company to offer higher quality and better finishes for its products, while helping raise its production figures from the current 5,700 sq m to about 14,000 sq m per month. All this has been done with the aim of achieving high levels of customer satisfaction, he says.
The company procures its raw materials in slabs or cut-to-size from around the world including from quarries in the Middle East, India, Tunisia, Turkey, Portugal and Italy. These products are used for various applications including flooring, cladding of walls and columns.
