KPC Precast has officially become the first precast concrete manufacturer in the Middle East to localise and deploy CarbonCure technology. The move aims to cut emissions across the region’s construction and built environment sectors, the Saudi-based manufacturer said.
The precast concrete producer said it has integrated carbon mineralisation technology into its operations, a process that permanently embeds captured carbon dioxide within concrete during production. In addition to reducing emissions, the technology is designed to enhance concrete performance and compressive strength.
The initiative has been developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing. The move directly supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts to modernise its construction sector and advance its sustainability objectives under Vision 2030.
According to KPC Precast, maintaining stringent quality and performance standards remains central to the technology’s implementation. The company added that the adoption of CarbonCure demonstrates that low-carbon concrete solutions can meet structural performance metrics while contributing to green-building certification targets.
The deployment is expected to strengthen the role of precast concrete in the kingdom’s transition towards more sustainable construction practices.
